Yick.... I did the caulking around one of our showers a while back. It was pretty grim and I noticed a few gaps in it (I'm tall enough to see the top all the way around the shower cubicle). It was fiddly getting the caulking gun into place but while I had it out I figured I might as well replace a load of the caulking that looked better but not great. It turned into a bit of a fuss but now all the caulking around that shower cubicle is nice and fresh.

I'm pretty good at caulking. I watched a guy do it years ago and the trick is to have some wet rags handy and use your wettened finger to smooth out the caulk, which also presses it into the opening more. Then you wipe it on the wet rag. Keeping the finger moist is what keeps the caulk smooth. My dad used to leave it lumpy and it was hideous looking so I like the really smooth, clean look better :)

I saw the wet finger trick years ago when my parents had new windows installed. With practise you can get a pretty smooth bead of caulking without pressing it into place :)

I hate the look of lumpy uneven caulking. If I'm replacing perished caulking and there's lumpy caulking nearby I'll cut it away and replace it, just for the aesthetics of it.

Started a bit of preparation work ready for putting the metal back into place on my porch roof. I need to drill a hole through the outside wall of the house, feed cable through it to a new lighting point, then from there to another lighting point, then to a point for a light/fan combo. Then I can put the metalwork back into place over the top of it all. Finally I can get the lights and fans and connect it all up.

I also had an annoying piece of old armored cable on the floor in the basement that had been there for a while, so I fiddled with it to get the cable out of the armor. The armor is steel and pretty much worthless but the cable is pretty heavy - I think it's #6, maybe #4, and I've got a fair chunk of it. That went on the pile to go to the scrap metal merchant. Depending on how long it is before I go I might take the steel, but there's a lot of steel and it's not worth much so I might take it to a local place just to get it out of my way. They don't pay for metal, they just give you a place you can dump it for free. They can also have the bucket of old nails I've accumulated from the assorted destruction projects.

Well in a tub setting, if the water hits it then it gets mildew/mold faster in the little divots so it's better to have a perfectly smooth bead.

Hello afternoon all! How's it going so far with your day? This morning, I've just had a shower and a hair wash. The afternoon, just playing some games on my phone before lulling myself to sleep tonight.

True, and if you get mold in nooks and crannies it's harder to clean it out again.

I went for a run. I didn't really feel like running but decided to get out anyway. As it turned out I felt really strong today, and set some new personal bests. I clocked my fastest ever time around my entire route and also shaved a nice chunk off my best mile and best 5k. When I went out I really didn't expect to set three new PBs in the same run.

I'm doing laundry. It's too foggy for me to risk going for a walk around the area and since I'm doing laundry I don't feel like driving to the park right now.

We had a bit of fog this morning and when it had lifted I went for a run. It didn't feel like a very good run, it felt like it was more of a struggle than it should have been, but somehow I clocked my second best 10k time. I have no idea how, but I'll take it.

Got a few things to deal with at church these next few days. We've got an unusual thing happening in place of the sermon on Sunday, but I can't set things up ahead of time because of a wedding on Saturday. So I'm tied up with church stuff tonight checking what's needed for Sunday, then on Friday for the wedding rehearsal, then Saturday for the wedding, and then on Sunday for the church service. I'm looking forward to the wedding, it's a lady I loosely know getting married and I'm excited for her and her new husband-to-be.

Got another run in today, which took more than I wanted to give. I don't know why it was a struggle but it was.

Then I remembered a tax form with a filing deadline of today, so got that sorted out. Then I wrote a piece for church on Sunday and by then I was feeling tired after a not-great night and my run, so took a nap in my recliner. Then it was time for the wedding rehearsal. I know the bride and her parents, so they invited me to join them for the rehearsal dinner, where there was plenty of food. Now I'm back in my recliner with the TV on. Tomorrow is the wedding. I'm working the sound board rather than a regular guest but I'm looking forward to it. The bride is a really nice lady.

I am really excited to try this for real:

EveryCircuit - 3 circuits to illustrate LC power savings

Besides what you see here, I added 6 electric motors (rated 6V 2A each) in addition to the lamp and they are all running off only a 10mV brief connection of the switch (plus power to the op amp...which is tiny). Of course the inductor and capacitor are large, but one nice thing about large inductors, if one doesn't need the inherited magnetic component in them, they can be simulated with op amps. The op amp in this circuit is not simulating an inductor, however.

No one in the community has told me "this will not work...here's why"...yet...so I remain cautiously optimistic.

Once it gets lighter outside my husband and I will go to the state park to walk. It's a flatter trail and won't bother his sore foot as much.

Gloomy rainy weather this morning so I'm not going to get much exercise in before the wedding. I've got some computer stuff to do anyway. Then the wedding is this afternoon, and hopefully it will be nicer weather this evening so I can get however many more steps I need to maintain my goal streaks and the like. Sometimes on rainy rays I walk at the church but everything is set up for the wedding so that's not really an option today.
