My husband is working from home today and then is off until Monday. Too bad he's allergic to hay and corn maze fields because I'd love to do some Halloween fun stuff.

It was time for my wife's car to be inspected and serviced, so we went for breakfast while that was being done. Then I took a walk in the woods this afternoon. It was so much cooler than when I did the same walk last month. I need to get into the woods more often - it's so very calming in every possible way.

My husband is getting new tires on his truck today. Hoping the rain doesn't get too bad when we have to go back to pick it up.

My legs are a little achy this morning. I'm obviously getting a lot fitter, as I not only walked my circuit in the woods faster than usual but my pulse didn't elevate anywhere near as much as it has done in the past. Doing a regular walk/run it's pretty easy to just put one foot in front of the other as fast as required but on hilly and rocky terrain there are all the secondary muscles that prevent things like ankles rolling side to side, and those muscle groups just don't see as much action during a walk on a paved road.

Today the weather is nasty and forecast to get worse so a run isn't happening. We'll just have to do some indoor walking. We're going to see friends for dinner this evening so we'll get it done early so we have chance to get cleaned up and not stink out their place.

Hideous weather today so did a walk indoors. I really need to sort out a space for a treadmill. Hopefully I can get some more of the other side of the house fixed up, now we've got a better idea of just what we're planning to do with it all.

Now just sitting with a coffee thinking about getting cleaned up and what to do with the rest of the day.

Another nasty rainy day so more walking indoors. I've chalked up 92 miles of walking this month, not including running and hiking.

My fitness tracker's software awards badges for certain achievements. Some of them are very difficult and some are more or less participation trophies. There was a badge for walking 92 miles between the beginning of October and the end of December (yes, it works out at a whopping ONE mile per day). I got the badge today. For comparison the running badge for the same period is such that running a 5k every single day isn't enough to earn it. I'm not expecting to get the running badge....

Hopefully tomorrow is nicer. My wife and I have rescheduled training workouts from our plan because it's not much fun running in the rain and cold wind. Perhaps starting a plan in October wasn't the smartest move. It didn't cost anything so if we end up suspending it or canning and starting again when it's a bit warmer it's not the end of the world.

Happy Halloween all! Today, it's very very cold, (feeling like 7C) and windy, rainy all day. Not going anywhere today, just trying to keep warm.

The weather didn't look promising today but I had a training workout scheduled so figured I'd go for it and hope for the best.

Running up gradients into the wind was difficult. Thankfully it wasn't a steep hill, just a steady gradient. I was glad I didn't have to run very far against gravity and the wind. This workout included a "magic mile" where you run a mile at a pace that's an effort but not a "run into the ground" effort. It came right after some cadence drills so it was a good job I checked my pace early on, as I started out much too fast and had to make an effort to slow down. The mile included some uphill and downhill sections and thankfully the wind was behind me for almost all of it.

Now I'm sitting in my recliner with my legs wondering what just happened to them, with a cup of coffee and a few crumbs on a plate as evidence that the delicious muffins my wife cooked while I was out once existed.

It's sunny today but chilly. Today's scheduled workout is hill repeats, which is a relatively easy one - the hill running is 15 seconds running uphill at a time. I could really use a bigger hill to work with but it needs to be one that isn't likely to throw in surprises, like someone in a truck coming over the hill too fast. The best hill I have to work with at the moment is the same one I ran back and forth yesterday for longer times than the hill repeats require. A steeper hill would be good.

I think my wife has one of her scheduled workouts too. She canned a couple of them last week because the weather was nasty and the plan she is doing doesn't give a lot of scope to reschedule them without ending up with workouts on several consecutive days, which it specifically advises against doing. So if you can't do them on the scheduled days you don't get much wiggle room before the only real option is to just skip them completely. That probably means we'll do most of our walk and then do our separate workouts back and forth along the same quiet section of road. But first we'll give it an hour or so to see if it warms up any.

Going to bed soon. It's going to be a cold night here and we'll finally get a deep frost outside.
