Let's say hypothetically the message you are sending is wrong, have you thought about that? If you are before the judgment throne and asked why, what would be your 'concrete' response. The reply founded on faith and scriptures. If you were wrong, would you accept responsibility for all those you influenced? Just hypothetically.
I guess the same question could be asked of a lawyer, who might typically argue: My client instructs me to say he didn't do it, (etc.). I guess in some jobs the essence is conveying ideas accurately, not the moral content of particular pleas and representations.
With a tattoo's message, I guess a lot depends on the particular content of the message. A Christian with a faith based message in his or her tattoo would however probably have a far greater sense of identification with a message of witness before God and men, than a lawyer might have as regards his clients' pleas and representations.
Interesting.

A lot of ppl these days seem to have gotten tattooed with a faith based design. So anyone got one or might consider one?

Tattoos are notoriously hard to remove, and even if they were still desired, can become distorted with body changes such as weight/muscle gain/loss. I wouldn't personally bother with any tattoo.

Jewellery, on the other hand, I've done before. In fact there is something I've been considering getting for some time. Simple ornament, inexpensive and represents something I believe.

good grief you can change a name but the carnal fetish shows through .

the only manner one could get a tattoo based on faith is if the lord told them directly to get a tattoo and they then did so as an act of faith - i have not met a single person that has ever been able to testify in the name of the lord Jesus that he told them to get a tattoo .

Sometimes I miss Alithis. I'm grinning now in the train.

These days seems like it's something you do when you reach 18; far more popular now for both genders, than it used to be.

We ought to stick together! :)

Actually there has been a sea change in recent decades, as regards tattoos; the quality of inks have greatly improved; many parlors are more like salons than the dingy places of yesteryear; as many women as (and maybe even more women than) men do it in North America; and so many young Christians get faith based designs at around 18. On the basis of instincts acquired many years ago, some ppl - including maybe our good friend Athis - kind of react against tattoos, but the fact is that in recent decades the whole scene has moved on quite vastly, really, don't you think?

PS:
Stravinsk :

Touch ups are often required after a few years, to enhance the tattoo.

Admittedly at 18 the concept of permanence is not always grasped well; but it's useful to remember that touch ups with some extra ink might eventually be required, right? :)

I don't see why people get things inked permanently onto their bodies.
tango: You've obviously never felt the urge to do it! :) but a lot of Christians (of both genders) do it, not unusually with faith based designs that are proven conversation-starters in witness.
