Do the foods you eat or refuse to eat make you more pleasing to God?

I remember when I was about twelve, my mom started buying this concoction called 'Diet Pepsi' :D That's when they still used saccharine. I begged and pleaded for regular Coke. No deal. Horrible stuff...

Can a Christian be a teetotaler?

If any objection is raised, I think it usually comes from those who may have had issues in the past. I'm abstinent for that reason. The first time I had wine at communion was after I was sober, so it was a bit of a shock to the system (sort of like taking a drink of water, forgetting you poured...

Do the foods you eat or refuse to eat make you more pleasing to God?

I did try a vegetarian diet for a few weeks some time ago (it was only an experiment). I was surprised at the flavors and different ingredients I could come up with. I was able to get pretty creative, as I recall.

Step. Away. From. MY. Fried. Chicken... :)

Do the foods you eat or refuse to eat make you more pleasing to God?

I don't think so. Some have taken the concept of "eating meat sacrificed to idols" and extended that idea to say that if I'm out to dinner with a friend who is in recovery from eating chicken, and I order the chicken leg special, then I am causing my brother/sister to stumble. Somehow, that's...

So you have doubts about ... the Holy Trinity

Also, the "Romans Road" version of salvation is nicely shot down by the 'Oneness' crowd (not really, but let's play along...) - "Romans was clearly written as an Epistle to churches that were already established. The audience was those who had already received the salvation message, had...

    Men need to quit!

I always thought that "quit you like men" was one of those KJV phrases that ranked up there with "gird up the loins of your mind". You just kind of go "huh...?" Seriously, though, I got my great-grandmother's bible after she passed, and there were some hand-written notes referencing the verses...

So you have doubts about ... the Holy Trinity

Ah, but it does. If the foundation is shaky, then what follows is not on solid ground. For the time I spent in a 'Oneness' Pentecostal church, there were some great "truths" I learned (not everything was error). But their view was a carry-over from what MC mentioned in the OP - that there was...

    Men need to quit!

"Be strong and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight. "(1 Sam. 4:9, KJV). "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong" (1 Cor. 16:13) Men need to quit? ;)

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 2

A little ham always seems to make it better, though (imho...) Perfect on a Winter afternoon. Strange thing is that I've yet to find any north of the border. Have to go from scratch, I guess.

    Wealth

Which is strange, given that 'Catholic Charities USA' ranks #15 on the Forbes list of the largest charities in the U.S.
