We'd like to think so. But then again, we'd like him to be as human as we are. And he was. But without sin. Romans 8 bears this out. If we just take out our bibles and read, we can see that he was "in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin". Wow! he had the capacity to sin, and didn't...
That's the way the thread is going. The surprise is a rather staunch conservative Lutheran is supporting this.
Also, I thought the context of "without" in the verse was interesting:
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around what's being said in this other thread. Did Christ's mortal/human body "bear the stain of original sin"? (a quote from a poster on another forum). I've just never encountered this before.
On another forum, this topic was brought up:
So, since Jesus was sent "in thelikeness of sinful flesh" (i.e. 'born with a fallen body/sin nature'), does that mean he had the capacity to sin, but merely resisted it?

Engaging in a thread on an 'Orthodox Theology' sub-forum (on another site) with idiots insisting Christ either sinned, or had the capacity to, because he was a man.
Orthodox. Theology. Capital 'O'...
I may never be the same again. My boss told me about some band that dresses up as the McDonalds mascots from the 70's and plays old black sabbath songs, calling themselves 'Mac Sabbath'. The songs are all parodies, with lyrics based on fast food. I just found them on Youtube. I may never be the...
In context, this is what the Philistines were being encouraged to do against the Hebrews in war, as well as Paul's command to the church in Corinth. The NASB has 1 Samuel as "Take courage and be men", other versions use words like "be strong", "be men", "fight as never before", etc.
In 1...
Sounds fun. I've only ever been banned from one site. 'Crosswalk' used to have a forum, but they let it go now. I was a bit of a troublemaker for the ultra-conservative Baptists. Being Crosswalk, I should have known better. Their parting words to me were "perhaps you can find a forum that is...
It will take a little bit. I need a few more hours of direct supervision (co-therapy, videotaped sessions, etc.), but that shouldn't take much. Then some $$$ for the privilege of a few letters after my name.
