Today was a gentle run, I slowed down whenever I felt like I was getting too warm. I layered up, which is normally a problem because even when it's cold outside I tend to overheat. So I covered a few miles very slowly, walked the last mile to cool down, and ended up having to retrace my steps because my house key fell out of my pocket along the way.

I've been walking, it's been too cold to run. Yesterday I wanted to run but the temperature felt a little on the cold side and my legs weren't really feeling it, so I walked. I spent the first two miles wishing I'd run and the last two miles glad I hadn't run. The bit in the middle was kinda ambiguous...

Hopefully I can get out and run today. I've been thinking about a gym membership again so I'll have access to a treadmill. It would be kinda fun for my wife and I to work out with our daughter, but she usually goes to the gym really late and if I do that it interferes with my sleep.

It's so slippery out everywhere and cold that I don't even like walking down to the mailbox to get the mail. Today is warmer so I drove to Walmart and walked around inside for a bit to get some movement. LOL

I finally got to run today, for the first time in over a week. My original plan was 4 miles but I decided to make it a 10k to get some decent miles in. It was an OK run, a bit cold for it but I get tired of walking and not running.

Oh good! Yesterday was kind of nice out compared to the other days, but when I went outside, I still was chilled. Guess I'll get my steps inside today.

Yeah, not very warm but warm enough to run for a change. I'm hoping to run again today and probably tomorrow. Saturday is supposed to be really cold again.

Next weekend will be 40s! I'm looking forward to that!

40s would be nice. I went for another run yesterday but really wasn't feeling it. I'm not sure if it was too soon after lunch or the effects of lacquer fumes from treating the floor.

I got a less measurable workout by putting three coats of lacquer on the floor in one room in my house.

Yeah, I tend to rely on housework at times to get some movement in. My doctor doesn't think it's real activity to get the heart rate up, but she probably doesn't have a two-story home with basement and doing stairs can be quite the workout if you purposely leave things on one floor so you can go back and forth all the time.

It was a workout when I had to haul my miter saw up two flights of stairs.

I got another run in today because I figured it wasn't going to happen tomorrow when the temperatures aren't supposed to go above the low teens and we're due howling gales. I wasn't expecting it to be a good run - yesterday's run was truly dismal - but I got a few miles in. I stopped running at 4 miles to make sure I'd get to 10,000 steps if I walked the rest but really wanted to run further. I needed to stop because we had company coming this evening. But no sooner had I got showered and dressed our company had to cancel, so I could have run more if I'd known.

Busy day today but managed to fit in a run between errands and dinner guests. Nothing fancy, 4 miles at a moderate pace. Some days it's just about getting the miles in.

Maybe tomorrow I'll do a long run, I've got a challenge to run a 15k this month and tomorrow looks like it might be the warmest day for a while.

It's starting to warm up, so maybe I can start getting to the park again.

I hope it continues. It seems like January was just another winter month where it started to warm up only to turn brutally cold again.

I got out to the park today to walk a couple of miles. It felt good to be back there.

I went for a gentle run yesterday. Running along an exposed road into 30mph freezing winds really wasn't much fun. I got to four miles and couldn't feel my hands any more, so walked the rest with my phone in my pocket and pressed my hands against my legs for a bit to get some warmth back into them. I'd have been fine had it not been for that wind. But at least I'm getting miles in, even if they aren't particularly good miles.

Today I wanted to clear my head so wrapped up against the wind and went for a walk. I ended up doing a bit over 10 miles. The wind was brutal in places, but with a waterproof on it's just a matter of walking into it rather than being frozen by it. Even with my hands in my waterproof pockets for most of the walk, they were cold by the time I got home.

How do you stop your feet from hurting when you walk that many miles? My feet ache too much and I believe I have arthritis.

For me there's nothing really to stop, I would say it's about choice of footwear but for yesterday's walk I was wearing a pair of tired sneakers with over 1000 miles on them.

Today I walked another 5 miles.
