Just finished some ginger/onion/garlic and soy sauce soup, with a bit of celery.

Earlier I had some potatoes I harvested from a planter in my yard with salt and oil.

Strav that soup sounds really good. My sore throat from coughing thinks so too ;)

I just finished eating pancakes and am drinking coffee. I can't have coffee too often but I wanted something to drink and I'm so sick of water.

Just a thought, sweety - if you're going to have coffee, perhaps add a little ginger and cinnamon to it. I've been doing that lately with my morning coffee (I add raw sugar/jaggery and milk powder too) - and it's absolutely delicious.

The soup is simple to make. Equal parts Ginger and Onion powders (usually a desert spoon) - and 1/4 to 1/2 desert spoon garlic powder - soy sauce to taste + water and heat it. Sometimes I add a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce as well. Then add whatever veggies you want to it.

Sort of went overboard with the meat consumption of late - sliced deli meats on my toasted sandwiches. Now I'm out (of meat) except for the stuff I have dehydrated in storage.

So I decided (last night actually) to soak some lentils and borlotti beans to replace the meat. I tried a toasted sandwich with lentils instead of meat. After toasting - added avocado and onion, a little sriracha sauce and a little ketchup + salt.

Surprisingly tasty. As good as a turkey or ham toasted sandwich. Better - as it didn't weigh me down.

I had eggs on toast for breakfast and it was tasty as well as satisfying. Now I am wondering if I might try pasta rice vegetables and some sausage for lunch.

I'm having this:

http://www.nomeatathlete.com/vegan-bacon/#comments

substituted out a few ingredients (bean type/grain type) and missing smoked paprika and nutritional yeast - but it is still very bacony and tasty.

The beans I soaked and used have been in my cupboard for over 2 years...

I'm having "chicken noodle" soup by Campbells.

I haven't bought store bought soup in a long time - but I used to eat this as a kid and young adult and memories were fond.

Fond...

For some reason.

I don't know that reason now. I mean, the soup is "ok" - but really that is all it is. I paid a little over $2 to refresh my memory and grab the basic recipe. TBH, to my taste it's a bit bland.

Why are memories so fond? I feel like my mind has been hijacked. Some stupid commercial or product placement buried deep in my mind telling me this stuff is just great and I've been denying myself for a long time.

I've done that too...bought a childhood fav only to be disappointed. I do know that recipes change over the years. I mean, Twinkies, for instance. They had to get rid of a certain type of fat...but that fat made it delicious. Now I don't like them. Maybe that's good so I don't eat Twinkies!

I'm still deciding what I want to make for lunch. I'm not hungry but need to feed my body. Nothing sounds good :(
