I pray that you will use discernment to know where it comes from and not shut it down
Of course you are not in control, it is the spirit that is. If you were in control then I would agree that it is of man but the very fact you are not in control and you speak you know not what tells me it is the spirit
sigh*smh... OF COURSE you are in control. You can start and stop speech any time you want. You can speak in English or babble speak, or French, or German, or any learned language you want. This whole idea that anyone is "not in control" is against scripture, regardless of anyone's take on this topic.
sigh
^^^^ What he said.
If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God (I Cor. 14).
In other words, control yourself.

I have spoken in tongues, and I probably still could. But now I'm leery of the idea. Ever since it's been pointed out to me that self-control is part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit--and when I am speaking in tongues I have no idea what I'm going to say next, and I don't feel I'm in control of what I'm saying--I have doubts about the propriety of it. Until that apparent conflict is reconciled in my mind, I'm going to stay away from it.
So my vote in the poll was "not sure."
1 Corinthians 14:
…31For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted; 32and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; 33for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.…

I was trying to remember a verse that said something close to Satan giving gifts. I couldn't find it but didn't really have time to search. Does it sound familiar to you?
But if the Spirit confirms it in me, you cannot argue against my experience.

I most certainly can. Your experiences matter to you and they may convince you but they have only minimal value in a debate and no value whatever in a debate where your experience and its claimed source is in question. ...
But, but, but...
