Yes, and the hits, I suspect, are all carpenter bees that have been gradually building a nest directly above a spare room I rarely enter. If we hadn't had some strong rains lately, I might not be aware of them until the crash I heard tonight. Ugh.

Crossing my fingers it should be minor. Before we had our home built, we treated all the frame against termites and other wood boarers, including the wood that makes up the roof. The damage is likely to be in/on drywall/facia. I don't want to look at the moment - it's night, and the crash sounded like it might have been a/the nest crashing down. Enough to agitate some queen bees that might want to sting me. I'll look tomorrow during the day. Through the window.

No critters in the room (yet). I took a sneak peak - and the crash was a stack of boxes, nothing more.

However, I now know I have a somewhat serious leak - and can thank (what I assume is) the carpenter bees for boring a few holes to let water flow down. In any case, there are two problems to fix now. I looked on my roof in the past week or so and couldn't spot any obvious cracks in the tile-work. So the source of the leak is a bit of a mystery at the moment. Supposed to rain all day tomorrow. Oh joy.

I had termites flying on thru a small hole that was bored into a corner of a window once. It was the strangest thing I'd ever seen. Seemed like a thousand soldiers flying in single file into the kitchen. Raid came into effect very quickly

Termites? Those can cause a lot of damage where we can't see behind walls. I hope you still don't live there or you called an exterminator?

The Raid worked well. It was fortunate that I saw them come in because they didn't have time to nest.
