IMO, The Libs have two things driving them in this...
1. IRONICALLY, not one of the 23 Dems running in 2020 want Trump to be their opponent. They want him GONE and some OTHER Republican - doesn't matter who - to be the one they run against. IF they thought Trump an easy target, they'd be screaming at the top of their lungs, NO IMPEACHMENT! We want HIM to be the candidate we run against!!!!!
2. The Dems now control the house. And they are so divided and the leadership so bad that they can't do a THING. So, to cover their lack of any accomplishments, there is this diversion. Seems to be working. For a brief while - when it seems hopeless - they switched to tax returns but now they're back with the impeachment thing. Any diversion is good - as long as it gets all attending OFF the Dems actually accomplishing not a single thing.
