We went to the park to walk yesterday and are going back again today since it will be even warmer! C'mon spring! I can't wait for even warmer temps.

It's supposed to be warmer this week. I'm thinking I'm going to do a long run today, or maybe leave it until Tuesday, or maybe both, I'm not sure yet.

In the 50s is what I saw for this coming week! Awesome! As long as the rain holds off so I can get to my park to walk.

I got my long run in, but struggled towards the end, my mile times were really flagging. But I got the miles in, a little over 10 in all. Now my wife is out with some friends and I'm sitting on my recliner with my feet up, not planning on doing anything very energetic for the rest of the day.

I've been getting to the park to do my walks and today I'm going to the gardens attraction to do more walking and get more use out of my membership.

Yesterday and today I ran four miles and then walked another mile and a bit. I made it to my monthly mileage target, but I'm still slightly behind on the quarterly target. I should be able to make up the shortfall by the end of the month, so hopefully I can go into March slightly ahead of where I want to be.

I have a bruise on the bottom of my foot and can't even remember what I stepped on because we have no Legos in the house LOL It feels like that though.

Because of that, walking is difficult and I need to wait for this to heal now.

This weekend I had a challenge to run a 10k. I was going to make it a gentle 10k but since the snow has melted and I can run without worrying about mud and ice I decided to wear my new running shoes and see what happened. I started out not feeling very strong but felt progressively stronger as the run went on, and ended up clocking a much faster pace than I'd expected.

My heart rate readings didn't look very accurate, I wasn't wearing my chest strap and my watch said my pulse was in the 170s, even though I could still speak even if somewhat breathily. But it was a good run, it's good to know that even when I have some days where my body just doesn't want to keep going I can still lay down some power.

I wanted to finish the month with another run, I've been doing a few gentle runs in my old running shoes. When I run four miles and walk the last 1.5 miles or so I don't want to wear my nice new running shoes. Today I decided to run another 10k and wore my new shoes. They're really very good. I don't know why they make running easier and faster but they do, I'm not sure if it's just that the soles are springier or whether it's partly psychological.

Today's run was a good pace. Around the 5-mile mark I took a hill too hard and had to take a short walk break but still kept my speed up, and ended up shaving five seconds off what my Garmin thinks is my 10k PB, although that was based on something it miscalculated so by my reckoning I missed my PB by seven seconds.

Either way it was a much faster run than I expected, and another good time clocked in my new shoes.

I can't remember if you told me what brand your new running shoes are?

We've been doing a lot of walking and my thighs are feeling it. Feels good to not be a slot anymore.

Pretty much all of my casual shoes are New Balance.

I recalculated my time for yesterday's run and it turns out I matched my PB to the second. Which is frustrating, because I lost a couple of seconds waiting to cross the road in one place and had to take a short walk break at the top of a hill. So with a very slightly different approach I might have set a new PB, but I'll take it.

In response to the first post in this entire thread - yes, we want to see videos of you working out. Otherwise we will miss out. Or something.

I've had bad sinus issues so didn't even get any walks in over the weekend. Today is going to be a bad weather day so looks like I'll be getting my steps done inside now that the pressure is relieved in my nose.

Nothing really noteworthy, although I got something of a workout in addition to walking and running. A friend nearby had a large tree cut down, and I'm on the lookout for wood for my lathe. So I hauled a load of wood back to my garage. Then the following morning I went back with my chainsaw and hauled another load of wood. There's an enormous piece of the trunk I'd really like to cut into slices but it's way too big for my chainsaw.

I've had my lathe less than three months and already I'm finding myself dreaming of a bigger, more powerful lathe. What I really need is a big stack of cash to buy a big lathe and a big bandsaw.

It's getting to be springtime temps finally!! We'll be walking/hiking again today. It rained last night so I'm not sure which trail we'll go to.

I got some running in the last couple of days. I've found if I run my full 5 mile route I don't get enough steps, so often I run 4 miles and walk the last mile and a bit, which gets me close enough to 10,000 that it's easy enough to fill in the gap.

It's surprising how much work my core muscles get standing in place over my lathe turning bowls.

I needed about 5 miles of running today to complete a challenge, so I ran a 10k to make sure I got the steps I needed. Not a hugely fast 10k, but enough to work up a bit of a sweat.

I seem to be in better shape than most people my age. I won't complain too loudly about it, although it does take work. My voracious appetite for pretty much anything with sugar in it doesn't help though.
