I do blame them, a Republican governor at the time implemented it and since all the bridges have been replaced that needed to be it is still there like any other tax it doesnt go away. We also have a Republican legislature (majority) so you wonder why I like Democrats, this is just one example, and Lamm I am sorry I did not realize the federal tax was that low considering they say over half the cost of gas is tax

The gas tax was raised in PA in 2017...a Democrat governor was in office.

Corbett is the one who started the process and it was a Republican legislature that passed it and it is a Republican legislature now that hasnt repealed it nor even talked about it and this is the party of less taxes, at least I thought that was one of the things they were for

Looks like the "Voting Rights" bill will be revived.

I imagine that is not a Republican priority.

But let's see ...

It will not get past the Senate nor the President...

We have massive voter fraud in place right now...

Hiding under the lie of voter rights...

Are there even ANY illegal aliens in California who cannot vote now?

Calif Driver's License is all you need...

And Illegals all can get one...

Correct.

There is not even an attempt to govern voting in California.... Who knows how many registered voters are American citizens or even alive, no one knows, no one cares.

ANYONE over 16 can get a driver's license here. And right now, you just check you want to be a registered voter and what party - and you can vote. The Dems here want this to be automatic, if you get a licensed you are automatically registered.

There's no checking to see if these people live where they say.... it's not legal to ask if they are citizens... no one checks to see if such a person actually exists or is alive.

Democrats go though neighborhoods where lots of immigrants live and ask if they've voted and offer to do it for them. They scoup up thousands of votes this way.

It's a MESS.

And since California is a one-party state.... and because that party benefits from all the voter fraud (it's not fraud here, it's been made legal)... nothing will be done about it. The press (in the pocket of the one-party state, say and do nothing. But we all know voting here is very corrupt. SAD in a country that boasts of being a democracy... even that rebukes other countries for corrupt elections. Beware of one-party governments.... they become extreme and corrupt.... especially if the Press is in their pocket. That's how it is in California. LOVE the state..... hate the government.

Must have been! Those darned socialists! Always making things better for people in need.

:smirk:

Yeah, but I was one of those people in need and didn't qualify. I didn't 'want' the monthly hand-out, just a bridge until I was able to get back on my feet (which wasn't far behind). Unfortunately, I wasn't privileged enough to live with 10 of my relatives, also receiving assistance, who didn't factor in to 'household income' because they weren't my dependents or my spouse. Nor was I driving an off-lease Cadillac Escalade that our government turned a blind eye to as it's not considered disposable income.

Each state comes up with its own tax to charge for gas. The President has no control over that percentage and can't be blamed as I stated in my previous post.

MC was making a point that our international trade deals were 'such-and-such' in 2017. My point was that these agreements didn't magically change just because we have a new President.

Are there no electoral rolls in the USA? By electoral roll I mean a list of names and addresses for people who are voters. When you turn up to vote do they not check your name against the roll and then indicate that you have voted?

The maintenance of an electoral roll seems such a basic and easy way to prevent ineligible persons from voting.

I did not say that. When it was implemented it was necessary and I supported the idea, now that its stated purpose is done it should go away but like any tax it doesnt. I dont like paying 25 to 30 cents a gallon more than neighboring states, wish I lived closer to the border

There seems to be some evidence that the FBI investigated Donald Trump to see if he was working on behalf of Russia against USA interests. That was recently reported in The New Your Times.

Consider Pope Alexander VI as an example of corruption in high places.

...which is something that every American should view with alarm. This has not been a country that had a secret police agency.

Such a thing has previously been a hallmark of some of the most oppressive and dictatorial governments elsewhere. Are Americans now going to take this as just business as usual in their own country as well...or worse, think it is all right since the person being pursued happened to be one that the onlooker did not care for? Heaven help us if that is what we have come to!

So, you're suggesting that even if he were a Russian agent working against the interests of the USA the FBI should never investigate it?

Donald Trump was investigated for being an agent working for the interests of Russia even if those interests were against the interests of the USA.

It is right and proper to do so when his words and behaviour suggested that he may be an agent working for the interests of Russia and against the interests of the USA.
