The first two years of Donald's presidency is nearly over and the house of representatives is changing hands from a Republican majority to a Democrat majority while the Senate remains Republican. What we've seen in two years of Donald is corruption, incompetence, support for wicked dictators and overt murderers, and now we have the prospect of Democrat chaired House committees investigating the corruption in the white house. What will come of it all. Will Vladimir Putin and the murderous Saudi prince be exposed and Donald's complicity with them?

Tune in as the year advances and see what new adventures the USA voting public will experience.

IF you were an American, and this was any of your business, you could choose to not vote for him in 2020 (should he be a candidate). OUR leader serves for only 4 years then can be turned out.... he/she cannot serve for more than 8. Very unlike your Queen.

How many US citizens here begin Australian government bashes here?

You can't blame the President for states charging their own taxes...such as on gas.

Donald was in office in 2017 wasn't he?

In 2017, the United States exported about 6.38 MMb/d of petroleum to 186 countries, of which about 18% was crude oil and 82% was non-crude oil petroleum. The resulting net imports (imports minus exports) of petroleum were about 3.77 MMb/d.

Yes; and everyone knows that trade agreements just change on a dime with every new administration.

Quite a lot of it was "spread around" onto him during his eight years in office. He couldn't afford his own home when he started in politics and he is now a millionaire.

Is a president not paid for his work? Is the pay not in the hundreds of thousands per year? Would that not add to more than a million after eight years in office? Or are you unhappy that he was paid and managed to save and invest wisely enough to make some profit? Are you such a communist in your thinking that you will say it is wicked that he saved and invested? He also earned a good amount of money from writing books that sell well. And from speaking engagements where people are willing to pay him well for making a speech to their organisations. All this is well known and well documented.
About Barack Hussein Obama II

The 44th president of the United States, author and the most popular person in the world, Barack Hussein Obama II, has an estimated net worth of $40 million, excluding the $1.4 million in Nobel Prize money he donated to charity and his primary home.

His historic run for the presidency helped him sell millions of copies of his two books, Dreams of My Father and The Audacity of Hope, during the campaign. He sold another 100,000 copies the week following his election. In 2009, the president earned an advance for an abridged version of Dreams for young adults; the deal made him the first sitting president in recent memory to receive a book advance while in office. The real money will be made years from now: Obama could certainly earn tens of millions of dollars a year giving speeches full time.

As president, Barack Obama’s base salary was $400,000 a year. He also had access to a $150,000 expense account as well as a $100,000 tax-free travel account and $20,000 entertainment budget.

Some of the achievements during his term as president of the United States includes the Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare, which he signed on March 23, 2010, and the passage of the America Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. His term as president ended on January 20, 2017.

Obama served three terms in the Illinois Senate and is the first African-American President of the United States. Obama was born August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School.

In June 1989, he met Michelle Robinson while working as a summer associate for Sidney Austin's Chicago law firm. Three years later, they got married and has two daughters, Malia Ann and Natasha

Everybody except the people owning the wealth

:smirk:

And, by some strange formula, me as well (who actually needed the assistance at the time). Go figure. It must have been my invisible knapsack of privileges I was wearing at the Human Services office :dunno:

Each state comes up with its own tax to charge for gas. The President has no control over that percentage and can't be blamed as I stated in my previous post.

Not really. It's Been 25 Years Since The Federal Gas Tax Went Up

This conversation about gas began on page 1 of the thread where I was happy to report that I had filled my gas tank with gas for $1.99 a gallon. Psalms then stated how he had the highest gas tax in the nation. That's about his state tax which is not something the President decides on. Each state regulates what they will charge people. Blame your state politicians. Pennsylvania's gas tax is 58.7 cents a gallon which is the highest in the nation. The Federal gas tax is 18.4 cents.

Looks like the "Voting Rights" bill will be revived.

I imagine that is not a Republican priority.

But let's see ...

This clever cartoon was on every Saturday in the 70s and almost every kid I knew had this thing memorized. It helped in 12th grade Government class on tests! It will help our non-United States members to learn how bills become laws too :D

Well, the Republicans have fought for years to stop voter fraud only to be fiercely opposed by the Democrats who even claimed that there is none (!), and then had most of the efforts thwarted by Democrat-appointed judges. I would hardly describe those efforts as not a priority, therefore.

Just look at Venezuela if you are in doubt.
President Meduro is living well and everyone else is impoverished, but not long ago--before Socialism took over the country--Venezuela was one of the most prosperous if not THE most prosperous nations in Latin America.

I do blame them, a Republican governor at the time implemented it and since all the bridges have been replaced that needed to be it is still there like any other tax it doesnt go away. We also have a Republican legislature (majority) so you wonder why I like Democrats, this is just one example, and Lamm I am sorry I did not realize the federal tax was that low considering they say over half the cost of gas is tax
