I love both but once in a blue moon only. At BK's, I have their sides and shakes, at Mcdy's, I have their ice cream, sundaes, Mcflurry's and burger trios.

I don't visit these places except on occasion to pick up some of their fries if I'm out. Usually prefer Subway or a noodle place where I can get Vegan options.

Both should be avoided....

But McDonald's fries are pretty ___ good, and I like the "flame-broiled" beef of Burger Kings.

Skip both and go to In 'N Out And skip the fries.

I haven't considered anything from McDonalds to count as food for years now. Last time I had anything from Burger King it was on the way home from the airport and as soon as my teeth sank into it I had to fight the urge to throw the whole lot out of the car window.

So my answer would be a clear "neither".

I've never had Burger King cause they have very few restaurants in my country and I've never been to one. McDonald's makes decent fries, but I absolutely dislike their burgers. At least the ones they make here. The bread is mushy and has a weird taste.

It's been a year since I've had either...okay, maybe going on 2 years now? We don't do fast foods where I live because we prefer the mom and pop restaurants.

But if I had to choose I would probably pick McDonalds. They used to have the best fries but now that there are no trans fats they taste awful so I don't order them. I like to get Filet-O-Fish.

Here you just can't beat the burgers and fries at A&W.

I think McDonald's fries are better, but the Whopper is a better burger.
There are fast food places called Whataburger in Texas that is better than both of those places though

I have had both McDonald's and Burger King. I like both, but if I had to choose, it would be Mcdonald's because of the wide variety of options on their menu. I try to limit how much fast food I eat; otherwise, I'll end up putting on the weight.

In 1970 Mcdonalds introduced the Quarter Pounder --- it was an immediate success. A&W countered with the Third Pounder for the same price --- it was a better burger but it flopped. Why? They said in essence "Why should I pay the same for a smaller burger?" Seems the American public doesn't understand fractions.o_O

In case you don't either ---- 1/4 pound = 4 ounces but 1/3 pound = 5 1/3 ounces

We traveled around Easter and stopped at a Burger King at a service center travel stop...it was awful! I won't be eating at Burger King for at least another year or two.

Only a year or two?

The situation I described further up the thread must have been eight years ago and maybe more and I haven't darkened the door of a Burger King since then.

From those 2 I like the McDonald's fries, othwise, neither. What-A-Burger or Chick-fil-a for me. For the price though, give me a local sit down restaurant any old day. When you spend $20+ at fast food for 2 people it is worth spending 20-25 at a local restaurant for better food.

Had a similar experience 36 years ago when my wife and I, two kids and wife's mom stopped at a Wendy's. We all got sick. Never been back.

Yep, I'd prefer to spend a bit more and support a quality local business than keep feeding the chain-store beasts.

I should have said 25 for the two of us at better places.

I should have said 25 for the two of us at better places.

A lot depends on area and what's available.

At the weekend we had a visitor with us and we went to a local independent pizzeria. The three of us shared one of their extra large pizzas and the total bill, including soft drinks, tax, tip, the full works, still came in under $40. We all left feeling pretty full and hadn't even finished the pizza - we took the last couple of slices away in a box.

We have a local coffee shop we visited recently to use up a gift card we won. We don't usually go out for coffee much, but at this place it was surprising how easy it was to burn through a $20 gift card, even though all we had was a coffee and a sandwich each, with a sticky bun to finish off the balance.

I've about decided that the best approach is to find one or two items on the menu of any of these places...and then order that when you are hungry. Avoid getting more items or experimenting too much with what else is on the menu.

Incidentally, there is a great variance between the different fast food restaurants when it comes to the calorie counts, carbs, etc. on their standard sandwiches. Taste is one thing, but if you're watching your weight or some ingredient, you'd be surprised at how much a burger from one place can differ from the burger at the competing drive-in. They all publish their statistics somewhere.

And finally, quality control matters. To me, at least. Some places have tasty food but you can never count on it being the same two times in a row. I have basically decided to omit these from my consideration even if "when they're good, they're good."
