So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Not sure if I'm missing something on the diagram but I'm not seeing where the power supply is at all. I can see a very low current paired with an oscillating voltage that rises to around 240V. It will be interesting to see if you can make it into something that generates enough power to run itself.

Could you turn in your child?

That's a hard one to answer - the sort of thing that I don't think anyone can truly know what they would do until they were in the situation. Edit: I think the best course of action there would be to encourage the child to turn themselves in. Looking at this whole thing with Gabby Petito and...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I was thinking about getting another run in this morning but the weather looks like that may not happen. I'd really rather not walk laps of the church - that's kinda boring - but at least it means I can get some exercise in even if nothing very intense.

Could you turn in your child?

It's really hard to say. One massive trouble these days is that when "trial by social media" takes hold the facts are ignored because everybody has an opinion on what someone should have done, even though none of the people with the opinions were there at the time.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Went for a run this morning. No speed records falling today, just about getting some exercise. Maybe later in the week I'll try one of my longer routes.

    Anyone loves Kimchi?

I like spicy things but really couldn't get on with kimchi. I did enjoy beef bulgogi and onigiri rolls with hot tuna.

    Going to your pastor?

Any time I think his advice would be particularly useful in a situation. If I ask for some time with him I'll give him an indication of how urgently I feel I need to see him so he can fit it into his schedule accordingly. He's pretty good at finding time at short notice for people who need...

    Chariot of Fire

2 Kings 2:1–12 (AV): And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy...

    Chariot of Fire

In the time leading up to Elijah being taken to heaven he asked Elisha what he wanted. Elisha wanted a double portion of Elijah's anointing. Elijah said something along the lines of "you ask a lot, but keep your eyes on me the entire time and if you're watching me as I'm taken into heaven you...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I read one article about a maternity ward in New York state having to close down because of lack of staff. The stupid thing is that effects like this are entirely predictable. More businesses will go under - if 54% of the population is vaccinated and businesses are expected to exclude the...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Thinking more about this, it is curious to see how fast we went from "we're all in this together" to "show me your papers". It's curious to see how fast the medical staff who are hesitant about an unapproved vaccine went from heroes to unemployed.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

I went for a walk in the woods this lunchtime. I bought a new pair of hiking boots and decided it was time to give them a maiden voyage. After 8 miles of rocks, roots and mud I have a very small blister on one toe and a very small slightly tender patch on another toe. I think that's pretty good...

    Chariot of Fire

Widely held misconception. Scripture doesn't say Elijah was taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire, the chariot of fire was a distraction and Elijah was taken to heaven in a whirlwind.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Curiously, on another forum and about a year ago I started a thread pondering whether putting scraps of cloth on our face was more about seeing how far people could be pushed to do something of limited benefit and exclude people who declined to join in the delusion. Clearly putting scraps of...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

"The world is at risk", except that it wasn't the virus that crippled economies, it was the governments. The same governments that shut down small businesses, not caring if they went bankrupt or not, are now saying those small businesses should exclude people who haven't been vaccinated...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

It is particularly curious the way people with natural immunity due to having encountered the virus already are still expected to get the experimental vaccine. We don't know how long natural immunity lasts, so you need to take this vaccine with an unknown longevity. Er.... OK then.

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

Our favorite brewpub did one of their semiannual members' nights this evening. We've been members for a few years now and some good friends of ours joined just before they closed the door to new memberships. We met them there and had a good evening. The members' nights are really good with food...

    Mental Health services

True, I guess the practise of some therapists gets blurred with the point of therapy until they seem like one and the same. I struggle to have much faith in the healthcare system, with the system for mental health care holding a place of particular scorn. It seems to be about rushing to...

So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

... especially now the growing push to get people putting socks on their heads again indicates that the benefit to society is minimal at best. Curiously in the early days we were told that a bit of cloth in front of our faces would work, but now it appears more and more that this isn't the case...
