Any time I think his advice would be particularly useful in a situation. If I ask for some time with him I'll give him an indication of how urgently I feel I need to see him so he can fit it into his schedule accordingly. He's pretty good at finding time at short notice for people who need something in a hurry, but if I'm just wanting to talk over something with no great urgency I'll let him know so he doesn't feel any need to squeeze me in (potentially sidelining someone with more pressing needs who didn't want to make a fuss) for something that can wait.

Usually my pastor suggests I come in to talk because we email back and forth regarding my questions and problems and I think he finds it easier to talk in person.

I am married to my Pastor, but when I feel the need to talk with a Pastor other than him, I have a couple of Pastor friends I talk with. That doesn't happen too often though.

i wait to go to my pastor for advice pretty much just before my last thread is going to snap.
I hate bugging people, it’s just part of my personality.

My poor pastor has received tons of emails from me and several visits. He usually suggested I come in to see him because our emails tend to turn into long threads and he finds it easier to talk face to face. He’s really easy to talk to. The help I’ve sought has been theological in nature.
My other pastor isn’t as personable and I’ve only talked to him once about something, before church.

Weekly for Divine Service, a little less than monthly for Private Absolution and as needed for individual crises and hiccups that come my way in the course of life.
