    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Three runs in three days. I had planned to walk today but the forecast for the next couple of days is for lots of rain, so I wanted to get another run in. Who knows, maybe the forecast will shift and I'll run again tomorrow.

    Prayer Thread for July 2026

My unspoken from last month still applies. I'd prefer not to post details on a public forum, but I think at least some progress is happening towards it.

    Celebrating the 250th birthday

An impromptu display last night. My wife and I went up to a nearby mountaintop to look at the stars and got treated to an impressive display of lightning from distant storms. When the storms got close enough to hear the thunder we decided to come home.

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

I had a beer (one single beer) last Sunday. I haven't had anything alcoholic since then. Apparently in the eyes of some that makes me a drunkard.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I went for a run yesterday morning. It was pretty hot, by the time I got home my clothes were soaked with sweat to the point I could literally wring the sweat out of my shirt and shorts. It was the first run this year that I carried a water bottle with me. I ran four miles, much more slowly...

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

But wine doesn't mean wine. Because, well, obviously. It's a different wine. That's why it's called wine. And remember not to be like the world because, well, reasons. Oh yes, and you wrote Tomothy instead of Timothy so that invalidates your argument. Don't forget to not drink any wine.

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

If you had done any such thing we might have a productive discussion. But this is going nowhere, nuance is lost, and I honestly see little point continuing. Which isn't a surprise really, just about every thread I've ever seen along these lines usually ends up going the same way.

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

That's a gripping read I have to say, and is also totally irrelevant to whether Christians are prohibited from drinking alcohol in moderation. For one who wrote a lengthy post about logical fallacies the irony is, well, ironic.

    Celebrating the 250th birthday

I'm honestly not sure. Tonight we're celebrating my granddaughter's birthday - she turns 16 tomorrow but our daughter can't get the day off work so we're celebrating her today. I think she has to work on Saturday as well, which is a bit of a drag. There's a fair chance we'll sit on our front...

... and another wall of words that proves precisely nothing. Well done.

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

... and here come the same tired arguments presented over and over and over again. You can misapply verses to "prove" pretty much anything you want to "prove" Ultimately what your argument is boiling down to here is a few verses pulled out of context and a vague "don't be like the world, the...

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

You know it's possible to have a glass of wine without it ruling your life, right?

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

Lots of words to turn something into something else. Throw in a little bit of implied assertion without a shred of evidence and you've almost got yourself some circular reasoning. In the meantime I think I'll continue to enjoy the things God created, in appropriate moderation. But thanks for a...

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

So it looks like what we have here is 73 pages of text that says you can drink wine, fermented or otherwise, if you want to. But don't drink too much of the fermented kind. That said too much of the unfermented kind may cause digestive problems of its own so that's also probably best avoided.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Today's exercise involved rearranging a bunch of stuff in my woodshop, which freed up more space than I expected. It helped that I found some wood that's kinda manky so I decided to put it in the burn pile rather than the "keep for later" pile. Then I went for a walk. It's very muggy out there...

    Maundy Thursday?

I've heard that before, to be honest I'm not sure I'm buying it.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

A gentle 10k this morning, that resulted in my sweating so much I wondered if there would be anything left of me by the time I was done. Not a particularly hard run, just a hot morning.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

It was cooler today so I took the chance to get a long run in. My watch had a challenge to run a 15k during June, and today was the day. I felt pretty good, which surprised me. I'd gone out expecting to alternate running and walking but aside from a comfort break at the local store I ran the...

Are UFOs the advancement of our secret tech?

It's really hard to know. My guess is they will be related to some kind of coming deception, although whether the origin of that deception is human or the deception referred to in (I think) 2 Thess 2 is another matter.
