So... What are YOU doing? - Part 8

More wood turning recently. I upgraded my lathe, the new one weighs over 500lb so getting that down the stairs to the basement was an adventure. But it has a lot more power, and can turn bigger things. Yesterday I made a bowl from a chunk of black cherry, today was a big piece of sycamore. While...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Today we had our annual church picnic at the local state park. After the service we got to play on the beach with one of our granddaughters - our daughter brought the youngest with her. The next youngest wanted to stay home, and as her oldest was visiting that was an option. Then I took a walk...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

My wife wanted to go for a walk, so we walked a local 10k route. It was a nice day, sunny but not too warm.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Yesterday I finally ticked off my 15k challenge. I wasn't sure how I'd make out - I sometimes struggle in the heat - but it was the coolest day for a while so I figured I'd give it a go and just not pace too hard. This morning my legs aren't liking me very much but I got the run done, and it...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I got another long walk in yesterday, a little under 9 miles. I had to hide under the canopy of a business for a while to let a band of rain pass but after that it was dry.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I got my long walk in, a little over 10 miles in all. By the end my legs were ready to sit down.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I did my run on Thursday and spent much of it wishing I'd walked instead. I gave nearly three hours between lunch and running but my digestion still wasn't happy. I had a challenge to run a 5k over the weekend so I did that yesterday (for the purposes of the challenge Friday counts as weekend)...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Yesterday my suggested workout was a 39 minute base run, which I did. Today's suggestion is the same but we're meeting our daughter for lunch so I may end up walking instead. It's not much fun running with a belly full of breads and meats and cheese.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Yesterday was a walk, today was a run. Yesterday was supposed to be 5 miles but my wife rescued me from an approaching storm after 4 miles. Today I ran a little over 5 miles. It was a good run.

I got another run in this morning. 4 miles, then a little over a mile of walking.

Sometimes it feels like a battle. I don't care much for heat and humidity, when I'm running I breathe through my mouth because I can't get enough air through my nose. The only time I breathe through my nose is on easier downhill sections, when it can help get my system used to working with a bit...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I got a run in this morning. It was humid, when I got home I literally wrang sweat out of my shirt. That was pretty grim. But I got the miles in, and didn't die in the process, which is always a plus.

How do we love people who hold very different moral views without compromising truth?

Why does loving someone require that we compromise truth? We can love someone without approving of any of their decisions.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

It wasn't too bad here, so I got a run in. It felt good today, I took a couple of walk breaks because I paced a couple of hills a bit too hard, but got round in a much better time (and much better mood) than Saturday's effort.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I got a run in yesterday and didn't enjoy much of it at all. Desperately slow, for no readily apparent reason other than that my legs just didn't feel like they had anything to give. Today the weather is gloomy so I'll probably be walking.

    Prayer thread for August 2026

My unspoken continues. I still think headway is being made spiritually speaking but sometimes it seems like the only steps are backwards.

Stripping the door continues. It's not particularly intensive work but rather tedious. I've sanded all the large areas, and now it's about getting sandpaper into the small areas to get the last bits of paint and lacquer out. Then I can stain it and lacquer it, and build a new frame for it...

Meta Glasses Banned at ComicCon After "Secret Filming"

I suspect we're talking at cross purposes here. At the end of the day if it's a condition of entry that you don't film, the organisers may impose additional rules to enforce their no-filming rule. If you don't like the rule nobody is forcing you to buy a ticket.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Since it stopped raining and cooled off a bit I've been running more. I've got enough movement in the rest of the day that I've been running my full 5-mile loop rather than running 4 miles and walking the last one to get a few extra steps. I also manhandled another door out from a storage room...

Meta Glasses Banned at ComicCon After "Secret Filming"

Probably for the same reason that if you lie to Congress it's called perjury but if Congress lies to you it's called politics. If the rules of entry are that you agree to be filmed and also agree not to film, if you don't like the rules you don't have to buy a ticket.
