    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I had a small branch down at the end of the yard. Nothing great, just maybe 3" in diameter, but enough to throw on the lathe to see what would happen. I turned a fairly simple candlestick out of a piece. It's so wet it may yet crack and become useless, but we'll see. Maybe I'll try and make a...

    Do you enjoy horror movies?

I did when I was younger, before I was a Christian. These days the blood-and-gore type just seem silly, the occult-based ones trigger all sorts of warnings in my spirit. So I haven't watched them for years now.

Have you changed to smart Tv?

When our old TV died I bought a new one, which was a smart TV. I connected it, I was presented with pages of terms and conditions that I couldn't accept, so I put it back in the box and returned it. I bought an older TV from a couple I know.

It's sunny here too. I'm not sure whether I'll get a gentle run in or go for a longer walk. I would go for a hike in the woods but we had some pretty big storms last night so the chances of finding downed trees is higher. I carry a folding saw so I can clear smaller stuff but if something big...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I decided that since my shoulders, arms and back hate me my legs might as well hate me too, so I went for a run. I had a challenge to run a 10k this weekend so decided to get it out of the way today rather than hoping I could fit it in after church tomorrow.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I'm surprised my muscles still work at all, although they are reminding me I'm not 25 any more. I got the lathe set up, I ended up using a piece of wood as a buffer and a hammer to tap the legs into position so I could bolt everything together. Lifting an irregularly shaped headstock that...

It's kinda hazy here but I'm not sure staying indoors is going to help me much. So I'll go and walk anyway, but with the head, humidity and haze I don't think I'll be running today. Maybe tomorrow, if I can get out early enough before it gets stupidly hot again. So far today I got something of...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I spent the morning with my daughter, then got to haul my new lathe from the local hardware store. It wasn't fun hauling 500lb of lathe parts through my house and down the stairs to my basement but I got there in the end. Then I went for a walk in the searing heat, and then got busy trying to...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I got a run in before it warmed up. Then it felt like something of a workout carrying bags of tools through my daughter's house to fix some stuff for her.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

This week is meant to be unpleasantly hot here too. This morning I got a run in and it was nice to be able to run without my heart rate going out of control on the hills. Maybe I'll get early runs in for most of the rest of the week too. That would be nice, keep the mileage up without the battle...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

That's a shame. I got my regular walk in today. We went to a local craft fair, then went to pick up some wood for my lathe, and then for a bite to eat and a beer with the friend who cut down the tree I harvested. I hadn't seen him for a while, so it was good to catch up. Going for a walk...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

I ran four miles yesterday in the humidity. I spent most of the run wishing I hadn't bothered.... but it keeps my belly in check. Which is just as well, given yesterday afternoon we went to a birthday party for our friend's granddaughter and ate rather too much.

That's a shame. Is that a frequent problem? I remember you mentioned a botanical garden you liked to visit - is it the sort of place where you can walk further and he can sit in the shade and enjoy the plants?

    When God is leading...or not?

I know this part wasn't directed at me, but I've often found that feelings alone can often be a great guide to what I want to do and not necessarily a very good guide to what God wants me to do. It would depend on what the issue at hand was. Many years ago I was talking to a pastor about his...

    When God is leading...or not?

Feelings may be an guide or an early indication but if they aren't backed by anything else they could be dangerous. I've often said that if God is calling then God is quite capable of making the message as clear as it needs to be. If your feeling is that someone in your church needs $10 it's...

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

My watch beeps at me if my heart rate goes too high. In the winter time it takes a bit to get to that stage and I can usually feel it based on effort before my watch beeps. In the summer it spends more time beeping at me, and I spend more time getting frustrated and walking to get my HR down again.

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

But, you know, as Proverbs clearly says anyone led astray is not wise. And, you know, taking a tiny little sip of wine at communion (like Jesus told us to) is the first step on the slippery slope of being led astray. Because, well, obviously. Duh.

    Lämmchen's Workout Thread

Today's exercise was a walk. I had to go to the hardware store a couple of times, not least because I got home after the first visit and realized I forgot something I needed. Then I needed something else, so combined it into another visit. After all that time was getting on and my legs were...

What does the Bible say about "wine"? Are Christians to drink it?

But, but, but, that's the worldly way of justifying something that's BrAzEnLy DiSrEsPeCtFuL to God. Apparently.
