You are simply arguing that repentance is not Salvation, because repentance does not cause Salvation...
Repentance is something man does...
Salvation is what God Gives...
If we upon hearing the Gospel do not do our 180 from dead works, God will not save us from the death we are living in our...
Did John the Baptist preach Christ and His Kingdom?
Can you engage the text?
The Gospel is about the Kingdom of God...
Repentance is the commandment for the sake of entry into it...
Arsenios
Repentance is turning from the world and overcoming worldly temptations...
God commands us to be repenting and to keep on repenting...
The end of repentance is simply not living a worldly life...
Justification is the Gift of God to those who are repenting...
It is being made right with God...
John the FORE-RUNNER was beFORE Christ's Passion...
It was repentance unto the Kingdom of Heaven...
The all needed to be baptized INTO Christ by the Apostles...
John himself was not so baptized, and descended into Hades, and there preached the Gospel of the coming of Christ to those...
That is entirely and speciously false...
Neither the Latins nor the Ancient Faith say anything even remotely resembling your false words...
God does give us all the strength we need to repent...
Repentance does NOT give Justification...
ONLY God give Salvation...
Justification itself is unto...
The Faith of Christ which He discipled to His Apostles is not a work?
The Gospel is the Call to repentance...
Our entry into the Faith of Christ is our response to the Gospel...
Are you saying that repentance is ONLY Christ's work?
We are back to the initial conundrum: Can fallen man, dead in...
"I will be found by those not seeking Me..."
I lived a life of repentance while an atheist for my first 36 years...
So Scripture, God, and my personal experience contradict your misunderstanding...
Arsenios
And your reply is:
Sigh...
OK...
Forgive me...
I didn't mean to intrude...
"Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
This is "The Gospel of the Kingdom of God."
So what is the appropriate response to the proclamation of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God?
Is your answer really: "I...
I do not and never have...
Justification is BY God...
THROUGH repentance...
We are saved BY Grace THROUGH the Faith...
Why do you continue in your false accusations?
Arsenios
You are utterly right...
We are not justified by good works...
And repenting is a good work...
Yet we are saved through the Faith of Christ...
Which He discipled to us through His Apostles...
And REPENT is the very first word of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God...
So we are then forced to...
I denied God for 36 years living a repentant life...
"I will be found by those not seeking Me..."
I have seen this with my own eyes in my own soul...
Arsenios
The simple test is this: Try reversing the wording...
Christ was taking up John's ministry upon his death...
John said "Be ye repenting..." A command...
And then the reason: "For the Kingdom of Heaven hath drawn nigh..."
The Gospel is the Kingdom of God's presence here and now on earth...
Mat 3:1-2
In those days came John the Baptist,
preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
And saying,
"Be ye repenting,
for (the reason that)
the Kingdom of Heaven
is at hand."
The Prize is announced, the Good News of its Presence, here and now, upon this earth...
The Prize that is locked...
Christ disagrees: "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!"
Are you re-writing the Bible now??
Where does the Bible say what your addition to the Bible envenomates?
The effect was blindness and fasting and visions...
And being Baptized into Christ by Ananias who filled Saul with...
Yes,
Man repents...
and...
God justifies...
No question...
No repentance justifies us before God...
And...
God does not repent for us...
Adoption is by entry into Christ to become a member of His Body...
"As many as have been Baptized into Christ have put on Christ..."
Therefore...
Do you understand ANY of HOW God does what He does? I truly do not think I do... I see what He does and how it works out to greater or lesser degrees, I suppose...
You have my attention, but then you go and introduce a technical definition of Salvation as Justification narrowly...
