    Salvation - Part 2

So I wandered over to the Greek text, and found the two conditionals to be aorist participles, followed by the future tense main verb... So the import is this: You SHALL be saved IF: You have believed... And have confessed... That construction would seem to be addressed to one's end of life...

    Salvation - Part 2

Aaahh! THAT is what you meant... I took that from "Believe in your heart" (INSIDE) and "Confess with your mouth" (OUTSIDE)... IOW it takes both inward belief and outward confession of the Faith of Christ in order that one be saved... I should think that this read is pretty much exegetical...

    Salvation - Part 2

It is a take consistent with the words written... Instead of insisting that the words could not possibly mean what they say... As had just been argued by Josiah... Not a logical deduction, hence you are right. Arsenios

"The Man From La Mancha." That* has never been the "debate"... If you think it is, you are tilting at windmills... This discussion is going Quixotic... Arsenios

I try to remember to question my own Salvation always... Flaunting one's (presumption of) Salvation is not a good thing to do... Arsenios

    Salvation - Part 2

What does Scripture say? Rom 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” And believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, You will be saved. Your inward and outward need to be of one accord Not only your hidden heart... But also your spoken words... That Jesus is...

    Salvation - Part 2

Salvation is always an already and not yet matter... We GROW and MATURE in the Faith of Christ across our lives, you see... And Biblically, we are to persevere to the end... Turning away from God is to forsake our Salvation in Christ... Lot's wife is one archetype of this danger... In this...

    Salvation - Part 2

He is purporting to be a mind-reader of our motives... Saying we want to make God small and man big... It is a pathetically demeaning form of argumentation... Arsenios

Maybe I wrote them, my Brother... So what can I tell an unsaved Brother to DO in order to be saved? How can your answer be anything other than nothing? Arsenios

    Salvation - Part 2

If you want Salvation in Christ you need to change, and that means taking a look at one's miserable self, and responding to the Call of God to repentance from the sorriness of one's fallen and death bound life... IF you are unwilling to do whatever it takes to turn away from sin, God will not...

    Salvation - Part 2

Actually, Paul is dealing with the whole of the topic of Salvation in Christ... Beginning with God's Foreknowledge... Followed by His Calling of man to repentance... Followed by His Justifying of repenting man... Followed by His Glorification of man overcoming... This is what Salvation is...

    Salvation - Part 2

Boy oh boy it's a really really good thing nobody does that, huh! We begin with the foreknowledge of God... You begin with all those works Jesus did on the Cross... Which fruit did Adam and Eve eat? Do you deny that we partake of this fruit who are in Adam? Hello??? Arsenios

    Salvation - Part 2

Man can desire purity of heart, as Paul reported: Rom_7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. So to desire what is good is within the power of fallen man... Yet to ATTAIN that good is not... "Of God the Gift..." Hence; "Ask and ye shall...

    Salvation - Part 2

It is Paul's point: Rom_8:30 Moreover whom he did foreordain, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. The beginning is being Called (to repentance)... The middle is being Justified... The end is being Glorified...

    Salvation - Part 2

We are in Adam... What Tree in Paradise did he eat of its Fruit that caused his death? You see, we live under the nominal rulership of death in this life, to which we WILL die... You seem to think we are corpses... We are God's Creation... And in Christ, it's pinnacle... We are partaking...

Thank-you - I was just hoping for a one to three word answer on what is lacking that Paul provided of the Suffering of Christ... No need to re-open the can... :) Arsenios

    Salvation - Part 2

The simple fact is that there are stages in Salvation by God... First is purification of the heart, which we do (or not) responding to God's Call to Repentance from evil... Second is the Illumination of the Nous in Baptism INTO Christ (Justification)... Third is the Deification (Glorification)...
