    MoreCoffee's Manly Workout Thread

Here's a little "Man Flow" for MC to practice :) *This is very similar to what I was doing. It really does work out the calf and thigh muscles. I used the wall as a support for all the exercises, though. I haven't tried this raising my arms like the instructor does here. Should give it a try.

    MoreCoffee's Manly Workout Thread

Actually, when I was having some severe knee pain a couple of years ago, I needed to do some exercises like this to get the joints to loosen up a bit. There are times I still do - if I go walking it will sometimes cause problems with my knees and ankles, so I need to do stretches or go easy the...

    Are Catholics boring catechists?

I was merely re-phrasing the OP as it wasn't really addressed by your initial response is all. Perhaps I was being a bit 'flippant', but that was the intent. I didn't intend the thread to be a "do you accept/reject Catholic doctrine/practice" issue of which, you rightly noted, we have been over...

    Are Catholics boring catechists?

Perhaps, but how often do I actually start threads? Gimme some credit! :D Wonderful, but that didn't answer the OP. The Catholics of your acquaintance, are they merely catechists, hanging on every word of the 16,987,632 ever-changing points? Or do they actually (you know) go see a flick once...

I might agree (and I do agree with the way you've stated it); however, Menno has often made the point that such works are not good in and of themselves - that man is utterly incapable of 'good'. If I've mis-spoken for Menno, then I apologize.

    Thinking about Noah's ark

And that's the assumption to deal with - that it was the "whole world". The idea of a world-wide flood, while interesting and believable in Sunday school (not perceiving all the animals that would be involved and the sheer weight of them - including Dinosaurs if you believe some), doesn't make...

    Thinking about Noah's ark

And YOU do realize the intent of the question... don't you? What has it done FOR YOU? Folks typically don't answer something like that with "well, it's shown me you're wrong". Good responses usually begin with "well it's helped ME to become more a,b,c,d..." and so forth (humble, patient, kind...

    Are Catholics boring catechists?

Ah, I see. Wasn't sure so I thought I'd clarify, but then it dawned on me (it's still early, somewhat) that the 'like' should have been my clue. If anything it'll get under a certain person's skin :smirk: ^^^^^I like him!!!

    Are Catholics boring catechists?

There was an apparent misunderstanding. The response about "works" was directed to the good MennoSota who made it a point to chide the Lutherans of his acquaintance for spending more time at the bar than church (i.e. 'bad' works over 'good') - nullifying any point he's made that it isn't about...

    Are Catholics boring catechists?

Personally, the foregoing is subjective opinion, and that's how I read it. You might disagree, however a statement that begins "it seems that 'xyz'..." is not (in fact) fact. but subjective unless accompanied by some measure of accepted truth - or at least some evidence that can be weighed out...

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (Eph. 4: 11-12)

Imo, what one is "shown" must be verified. You can "show" me a picture of a UFO, but in some cases it can be explained; however, that requires someone to do the explaining. Otherwise, I'm still convinced it's a UFO. Likewise, the bible can "show" me any error it wants if I look, and say "this is...

    Are Catholics boring catechists?

I can understand that. I think what gets ;lost is the very voluntary nature of the acts you've described. One giving oneself to these ways of life are not a simple or prescribed choice, or some directive, but are the choice of the individual. When I went out for my nephew's wedding, the...

Borrowed from another thread: Personal revelation?? Never thought I'd see those words from you. Do you mean that God's word has shown you? How do you know? Okay, that's different. But, again, how do you know that it is not personal revelation falsely attributed to God about the Catholic...
