What you appear to be espousing is Universalism. If as you say. "God loves man enough to do everything necessary to carry us through this life and gather us to himself in the next." then God saves everyone, unless you believe God throws a dice to see who gets saved. "In Christianity, even your...

    O.T. Canon Lists

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia on the New Advent site: "The Alexandrian tradition is represented by the weighty authority of Origen. Influenced, doubtless, by the Alexandrian-Jewish usage of acknowledging in practice the extra writings as sacred while theoretically holding to the...

I like Chinese, That and curries, but as others have said, the ones we get here are probably heavily adapted for our western tastes.

    What surgeries have you had?

Yes, fine thanks. I get checked regularly. The surgeon said that if I'm all clear after 2 years I should be OK, although they continue to monitor me (though less often) for another 3 years.. The two years is up next month. I've been told to use factor 50 sun cream if I go out in the sun.

    What surgeries have you had?

I had my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was a child. Several years ago I had laser treatment for a couple of tears in the retina of my right eye. About two and a half years ago I had a small scab on the top of left ear that wouldn't heal. It turned out to be cancerous and I had a V shaped...

Josiah, The fact that, prior to the Reformation, all three major Christian groups included the 7 books we know as the deuterocanonicals in their canons shows that at some point in the past there was unanimity among Christians as their canonicity. Whether some of these groups had a few extra...

Should people who rip books out of the Bible burn in Hell?

Not some regional bishops having opinions, but a Council led by the Bishop of Rome, the successor of St. Peter who held the keys and the power to bind and looses (Mt 16:19), making an authoritative declaration. It's not unrelated because the (Eastern) Orthodox Church looks to Carthage as an...

Should people who rip books out of the Bible burn in Hell?

The gospel has to be preached. It is by hearing the gosperl and believing that we are saved not by reading a book. "But how are men to call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? And...

Should people who rip books out of the Bible burn in Hell?

I beg to differ. The Pope at the Council of Rome (382) defined the books of the OT and NT. That was before the Coptic Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox split off. So that is as close as we are going to get to the whole of Christianity. Not just "a" bishop but the Pope, the successor of St. Peter...

Being exposed to Catholic practice and teaching does not necessarily mean you learned much. I was brought up by Catholic parents. We went to Mass every Sunday. I went to a Catholic school for 13 years but I left an agnostic. It took many years married to a good Catholic girl, and exposure to...
