I was justified initially because I was baptised. "He who believes and is baptized will be saved" (Mk 16:16) "Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you," (1Pet3:21) I'm forgiven my sins because I repent and ask forgiveness.# "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will...

None of those scripture say that we have no part to play in our salvation. You are still ignoring the scripture I gave you in posts #8, #12,#23, #40, #43, #45, #47. Consider these (but don't keep ignoring the others): Peter "Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to...

It is my experience that Protestants generally(not just Lutherans) sometime s use words differently to Catholics. As regards salvation and justification. Bother of them have a past, present and future aspect and to some extent refer to the same thing, though looking at it from a different...

Yes, I agree with all those scriptures. But not with the the conclusions you are trying to draw from them. As the scriptures I gave you show, we have a part to play in our salvation. If that were not so then either everyone is saved, or God picks some to save and some not to save based on what...

You didn't refer to God's Law" but "The Law" and when Paul says "The Law" he is generally referring to the Mosaic Law. In the passage where we "fall short" Paul is clearly referring to the Mosaic Law. Getting personal because you can't refute the scripture I give you? Here is some more for...

The Law is OT. I haven't quoted OT, only NT. "As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."" (1Pet 1:14-16) Are we still...

God is not a fantasist. He sees what you are. "As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."" (1Pet 1:14-16) Are we still...

    What printer do you use?

I have an Epson XP-322. Before that I had a Canon. Both are good for the printing I do. One of my criteria for choosing a printer is the availability of cheap replacement inks from ebay. The printer makers versions are very expensive. My Epson grumbles and sulks at first when I put in a...

This idea that Jesus has done it all and there is nothing for us to do is not scriptural. "As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I...

I agree with Eph 2:8-10 but it says nothing about earning anything. Do you agree with the verses I posted? Or are you just ignoring them?

We have to believe. We have to turn up for baptism. I would agree that what good things we do, we do them with God's grace. But we have to co-operate with God grace to do them. We are not puppets. God does not force us. Read Mt 25:31-46 and then tell me that there is nothing that we have to do.

Well you said "Biblical Christianity is defined by the Bible". There are many arguments about who is a Christian and what beliefs are basic to Christianity and I would be interested to know where a definition is in the Bible. But if you don't want to go there at the moment that's OK.

While you are thinking about the other quotes I gave you here is another: "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." (Mk 16:16)

The couch potato Christian. “I have nothing to do but lie here and Christ will do it all.” Not for the couch potato to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12) Not for the couch potato to run the race (1Cor 9:24-27) Not for the couch potato to be rich in good works...
