    Not by works?

This touces on an interesting subject I found - Generally, Protestants and Catholics have a different definition of what faith itself is. For example, I've seen Lutherans who argued that baptized infants can have faith - I don't know if the Catholic definition of faith being a mental work...

    God's hatred cannot be disputed.

Sorry, but I simply have no idea what I've just read... :ROFLMAO: Love the alternate realities mumbo-jumbo, though. I feel like there isn't enough 'religious' sci-fi, it all basically assumes future humans are either enlightened humanist atheists or dystopian false god worshippers.

Just another Ahoj from the Czech Republic!

That map is very interesting, thanks! I knew about Texas and the general area around Chicago, but it didn't occur to me that the immigrants settled in the whole sliver of territory that was the frontier at the time.

Just another Ahoj from the Czech Republic!

Hi there! I got encouraged by the other thread, as I haven't introduced myself yet, even though I've already written a few posts elsewhere. I am a Czech Evangelical Protestant who used to lurk around Catholic Answers Forums, and since their shutdown, I've enjoyed lurking around here! Nice to...

Diversity doesn't mean equality at all.

If homogeneousness were a good thing, then surely North Korea would be the second Eden.

    2 Questions for Trinitarians

Yes, of course I understand they are the same, isn't that what I just wrote here? These are just different titles for the Holy Spirit alone. Never was Jesus or the Father called the Comforter or the Spirit of God or the Holy Spirit - they are distinct Persons.

    2 Questions for Trinitarians

That would mean God is talking to himself and sending himself as the Comforter. Modalism simply doesn't quite stand the test when you encounter biblical passages in which the different Divine Persons interact with each other, and are actually distinct in their roles. On the other hand, it is not...

    2 Questions for Trinitarians

This is a great observation, especially valid for the Mormons. I would only add that while Trinitarian Christianity always argues on the grounds of received revelation (Scriptures, or even tradition), non-Trinitarians either simply hurl isolated verses into the debate or state that the mystery...

    The RCC Claim

Catholics believe a teaching is correct because the Catholic church is the correct, one and only Church established by Jesus Christ, not the other way around. That is why it is so important for Catholics to state that their church is the true church - it gives the ultimate legitimacy to their...

    The RCC Claim

That one is even better (later). Either way both dogmas I mentioned were pronounced in the 1800s, and were subjects of heated debates within Catholicism before that.

    The RCC Claim

For example the doctrinal distinction between presbyters/bishops and the relatively recently pronounced dogmas of Papal infallibility and Immaculate Conception.

    The RCC Claim

It has to do with the crucial ecclesiological question which caused the separation of Catholics and Protestants - is the Church guaranteed that it would always have the correct teachings of the Gospel or is it something that can be muddled up and has to be maintained? A Protestant therefore...
