Hi there! I got encouraged by the other thread, as I haven't introduced myself yet, even though I've already written a few posts elsewhere. I am a Czech Evangelical Protestant who used to lurk around Catholic Answers Forums, and since their shutdown, I've enjoyed lurking around here! Nice to meet you all!

Glad to see you around. I have Czech ancestry and am looking into learning the language to read it while I do genealogical research.

Well to start off a great majority of the Czech community settled heavily in the southern Texan region along the Colorado river, not exactly sure why other than finding a place to stick together, this was around the late 1800s I believe.

I grew up in Nebraska where there was a large Czech settlement too.

BTW, I usually stop off in West to get me some good kolcaches, the pastry kind.

Oh wow, yeah Nebraska is very populated with Czech nationality!
I only mentioned Texas for us to relate to..
My late grandma used to make some delicious homemade kolache pastries!

That map is very interesting, thanks! I knew about Texas and the general area around Chicago, but it didn't occur to me that the immigrants settled in the whole sliver of territory that was the frontier at the time.
