Some folk choose to be vegetarian for ethical reasons and some for health reasons but there are also many who choose vegetarianism for religious reasons. The majority of religious vegetarians would very likely be Hindu or Buddhist but some from other religions also choose vegetarianism believing it pleases God or the gods better than eating meat. What's your perspective? Is Jehovah better pleased by vegetarianism than by meat eating among the faithful?

He is always overly pleased when I eat icecream. No I don't think God cares about food as long as I don't over eat or ruin the temple.

I used to know a few ladies who thought they were above everyone else because of their vegetarian "Christian" diets, or at least that's the impression that was given by their posts on a site a long time ago. Then there were the other ladies who jumped on the bandwagon to be more like them since they seemed "so holy".

Whether or not Adam and Eve were vegetarians before the fall is irrelevant since Jesus Himself ate fish and Jesus wouldn't sin. It's okay to eat meat. If God preferred us to not eat it, He would have not eaten any when He came to earth in the form of man. I'm sure Jesus would have followed the Passover obligations.

I was vegetarian. Someone in church told me it was no good. So I decided to eat meat but being brought up as a vegetarian ruined my taste I guess. It's from other religions. If it was christian Jesus wouldn't have eaten it.
I was brought up with it because my granddad was with the rosecrucians, a cult.
When I wasn't saved I felt superior and judged people for eating meat. How lovely and christian.

I don't think so. Some have taken the concept of "eating meat sacrificed to idols" and extended that idea to say that if I'm out to dinner with a friend who is in recovery from eating chicken, and I order the chicken leg special, then I am causing my brother/sister to stumble. Somehow, that's supposed to be displeasing. The greater displeasure, I think, is if what we are consuming is harming our body.

I did try a vegetarian diet for a few weeks some time ago (it was only an experiment). I was surprised at the flavors and different ingredients I could come up with. I was able to get pretty creative, as I recall.

Lol noone may eat icecream anymore because otherwise I'm tempted to eat it too. Good old days when family members were on a diet and for the other family members there was also no cookie in the closet. Nope we're dieting and otherwise we're tempted to eat them all.

I remember when I was about twelve, my mom started buying this concoction called 'Diet Pepsi' :D That's when they still used saccharine. I begged and pleaded for regular Coke. No deal. Horrible stuff...

God has His reasons for dietary laws.. and it is to reflect in obedience helping to keep disease at bay.

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

God said that to those under the Law of Moses. Christians are under grace and not under the law.

Grace doesnt mean that common sense isnt used and scientifically the foods mentioned as unclean have been shown to cause harm if eaten enough, it is not sin anymore but you would live longer if you followed the biblical diet which for info purrposes I dont, I love shellfish and pork and other things that are not as healthy

This thread is about religious dietary restrictions - specifically religiously motivated vegetarianism.

Garden of Eden diet is vegetarian, when we have a new heaven and a new earth, do you think animals will continue to be a food source?

I think that eating may be confined to the body & blood of the Lord. But here and now we eat foods of many kinds.

It must be because you are not Jewish, that you do not understand that Jewish comment.
