Get real with God and He will get real with you... Sometimes, people have so shut out the small voice that when they even do this, they can not believe that the small voice they have been brushing aside is God's.
Yes.. And that small voice is what i have always referred to..when we say..
Now that we ate made a new creature in christ..old has passed new has come etc.
We are to put to death the old desires of the flesh and we are now made free to walk in the spirit and obey the holy Spirit...
As you word it.. Listen to that small voice and obey.
When we do this,we cannot do a sin at the same time.
If we refuse to listen and obey but instead shut our ears and continue to follow the desires of the flesh 1john3 tells us we do not even know god at all.
Our declaration of faith is proven by our obedience not by our inactivity .

When you go to God in earnest regarding if there is any sins between you and Him, He will open up your mind to incidents, and if you ask why, He will explain the root, seed, branches, and fruits of that event so that you can clearly see the atrocities that can go through the family into the fourth generation. When you see it the way God sees it, even "little" sins can have huge effects, and the repulsiveness of it will soon become clear. God is the only one who can truly help you see, and understand the depths of depravity, death, destruction, disease, and desolation that it can cause.
Just so.. What was wicked becomes exceedingly wicked....

How many wicked people do you know or heard of that still have a conscience about certain things? How many people do you know of or heard of that are without conscience... those would be exceedingly wicked, because the breaks are gone.

Oh cool.. Some conversation :)
We are momentarily viewing that peice of text from different angles .
I spoke,in this instance,of past and present
Tense in my own life.. So sin a once struggeld with and kept doing ..i knew was wicked..but not having repented of it and so giving it place in my life i glossed it over and viewed it as not so bad...(the gloss of self deception)
But now..thatchristhas worked in me Godly repentance from godly sorrow and sharp chastisment ..he caused me to utterly cease from that sin.. Not temporarily but for life.
So "that sin" i once viwed as wicked but not so much... He has now caused me to revile it .eschew it.shun and abhor it as a thibg that is exceedingly wicked.

Thats what i meant in the use if the term ..that which was wicked became exceedingly wicked to me god renewed my mind to see it as he sees it.
-hope i conveyed that well...

I didn't find the term "venial sin" in any of those verses you quoted. Nor do I know of any biblical author use the term. That must have come later as a clerical term, a sin that could be forgiven, bought for a price. Was Judas committing a venial sin when he betrayed Yeshua?

That'd be because "venial" is from Latin. If you were reading the Vulgate you probably would find it. Nevertheless, the passage I posted makes a distinction between sins leading to death (deadly sins) and since that do not lead to death (venial sins).

I just found out that masturbation is a venial sin.

An example of this [venial sin] could be masturbation. The Catechism explains:

To form an equitable judgment about the subjects’ moral responsibility [for masturbation] . . . one must take into account the affective immaturity, force of acquired habit, conditions of anxiety, or other psychological or social factors that can lessen, if not even reduce to a minimum, moral culpability. (CCC 2352)

But for some reason, I can not picture God allowing masturbation in heaven.

There's no marriage in heaven because the resurrected saints are like the angels. One presumes that angels have no means of reproduction and hence would not engage in sex based sins in heaven.

You really ought to take it up with saint John then. He's the one who said that there is sin "not unto death".

No sins are permitted. Some are unto death and some are not according to the holy scriptures. There's nothing more to it.

All sin brings about death and no sin is greater or less according to what I read

If any one sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin which is not mortal. (1 John 5:16-17)

Have you considered the above verses?

Yes and I always took thta as a believer who has sinned but not to the point that God has condemned him to hell. There are the walking dead who are beyond help but most times it is just God waiting for us to realize that we are doing wrong or are in the process of quitting the sin

I was not asking for an interpretation of the verses. I only wanted to encourage you to notice that there are sins that are mortal and sins that are not mortal.
