YourTruthGod said:
And why are you bringing up Hebrews and Gentiles as if they have different ways to get saved?
Because when Jesus came on the scene the law of obedience was directed via the Holy Spirit,
without it the laws are of "no effect",
the Spirit guides your obedience for without it you are boastful and arrogant and not humbling to the Lord.

This is why you think there is A DIFFERENT GOSPEL for the Gentiles???

My brother, such thoughts are foolishness...

Ephesians 2:8
"For by grace you have been saved through faith
and this is not your own doing
but it is the free gift of God."

You could at least give the literal translation, Josiah...

My guess is that you are guessing at the grammar as well...

Grammatically, the "this" refers back to "by grace you have been saved through faith."

Gramatically this means that Grace saves you and that the MEANS of Grace is the Faith...

Christ discipled His Faith to His Apostles...

THAT Faith is the MEANS of Salvation...

The referent of "...this..." is God's Gift,
which is the Saving Grace of God
that saves us THROUGH
the Faith of Christ...

So when are you and your fellow Protestants going to stop being schismatics and sectarians and purveyors of false doctrines? :)

Orthodox Patriarchs can be and have been heretics...

Can the Pope be a heretic?

It's sad how you take things out of context, I never said there are two gospels, if YTG wants to live under law he has 613 of them to maintain, you see, the gospel is all about Christ being the savior, not ourselves, 1. Love God and 2. Love your neighbors, by these two commands hang all the laws of the prophets. Faith comes first and it creates good works in us, good works is evidence of true repentance, but if you lack Love you have no charitable works in you and you break the 2 great commandments

BAPTISM is the way in which a person is actually united to Christ.
The experience of salvation is initiated in the waters of baptism.
The Apostle Paul teaches in Romans 6:1-6 that in baptism we experience Christ's death and Resurrection.
In it our sins are truly forgiven and we are energized by our union with Christ to live, a holy life.

Nowadays, some consider baptism to be only an "outward sign" of belief in Christ.
This innovation has no historical or biblical precedent.
Others reduce it to a mere perfunctory obedience to Christ's command (cf. Matthew 28:19, 20).
Still others, ignoring the Bible completely, reject baptism as a vital factor in salvation.
Orthodoxy maintains that these contemporary innovations rob sincere people
of the important assurance that baptism provides -
namely that they have been united to Christ
and are part of His Church.

OK - So then the Gospel to the Jews by Christ is identical to the Gospel to the Gentiles by Paul?

Water baptism was BEFORE people were given the Holy Spirit.

The first Christians were given the "Gift of Tongues" as a Chrism of Baptism into Christ...
It came AFTER they were Baptized...
It was the Cornelius Party that gave the Pentacost of the Gentiles...
For they were given the Gift of Tongues prior to Baptism...

For which cause Peter Baptized them INTO Christ...

See 1 Thessalonians 1:3, We continually remember before our God and Father YOUR WORK PRODUCED FAITH, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Did you read that?

Do you really want to keep going against God and say He regenerated you first with the Holy Spirit TO HAVE FAITH?

Or are you going to believe the truth and believe the truth that God regenerates us with the Holy Spirit because we have faith?

Great post, YTG...

So, good YourTruthGod let us chat and have an occasional civil discussion
and maybe a fight every now and then
and I think we'll get along well.
And we may even learn something.

Debate is so...
Well...
Thomistic!!

I mean, the Orthodox do not debate...

But English school-boys do...

I believe "huzza" is a US Marine term...

I thought the Army was known for "Hooah" while the Marines were known for "Semper Fi".

Sometimes you talk about... "achieving salvation."
.

A vacuous assertion without a direct quote, Josiah...

Do you have a direct quote from her saying "ACHIEVING SALVATION"???

I am thinking you just made that one up out of your very own imagination...

[Having no denomination] Which is what is meant when people use the expression, Lone Wolf Christian.

So tell me, do you somehow imagine to think that calling one's self a Baptist or a Presbyterian or a Lutheran or a Methodist, or a Church of Christist or an Episcopalian somehow makes you NOT a lone wolf Christian??? Really??? Show me one thing that you can or cannot believe and you will then be ejected from their Church...

Sister Ana may have been there alongside Mary.

Would you like the names of the Myrrh Bearing Women of the Lord?

We know their names, you see...

Passed down through oral tradition by word of mouth...

Anathema in your soul, I know...

Her name was Anna...

Stop saying I tell people to live under the old law.

As for faith, YOU have to have faith TO GET SAVED.

Read these scriptures. Do you think Jesus is playing games?

So Jesus just didn't want to save anyone in that town?

Mark 6:4 Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is without honor only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household.” 5So He could not perform any miracles there, except to lay His hands on a few of the sick and heal them. 6 And He was amazed at their unbelief. And He went around from village to village, teaching the people.

What I was explaining to Menno was that water baptism was given before the Holy Spirit was yet to be given, because water baptism was given before Jesus died, rose again, and ascended back to heaven.

We receive the Holy Spirit before a water baptism now, or after, or maybe even during.
