Yes He used a donkey once to talk to someone. Why shouldn't He use me?

I had this as a foot note under my posts once when God didnt speak to me, but I went to an atheist forum to evangelize, thinking God wanted that. LOL all those intelligent studied angry mainly ex christians. I did get the troll of the year award though. I didn't do it for nothing.

Saint Peter of blessed memory was the first pope. He was also the longest serving pope. But I freely admit to having a little chuckle every time a chap (or a lady) gets all worked up about popes and Catholicism.

God uses creation - as a matter of fact the bible is comprehensible only in the context of creation so creation is necessary in a more fundamental sense than is the bible.
Do the animals talk to you?

As for Peter being a pope, history shows there was no pope until after Constantine made Christianity the State religion. The term didn't even exist in Christianity, but was used by pagans to designate their spiritual leader. This is not an attempt to denigrate the RC. I am simply stating historical fact. Peter would never have used the term, pope, as an identifier for himself.
I do wish that RC congregants would study history rather than parrot what they hear in their church. It would make for a better dialogue.

Lol my preacher said: preaching is the easiest job in the world. You just have to repeat what God says, the Bible.
Of course not but my preacher preaches a message we need today, the vision, why we have to go to another city, what God told him to do there, whats also in the Bible, disciple ppl give a school of ministry, first let the christians be prepared to get in the harvest. He preaches only from the Bible but what? Youre not just gonna start reading Genesis 1 this sunday Genesis 2 next sunday Genesis 3 the next. Well some preachers do but luckily not mine. Maybe God told them to do that, I don't know but I'd get bored to no end listening to that.
Do you enjoy having your ears tickled?

What biblical text does your preacher use for his/her views?

All of God's creation speaks Job 12:7-10 ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

I am still wondering what biblical evidence we have for God speaking to us outside of the Bible, which is living and active.
do we have biblical evidence to the contrary?

All of God's creation speaks--in a metaphorical way, that is. The question here is whether people actually hear, audibly hear, God speaking to them in normal language.

Do we have biblical evidence to the contrary?
Hopefully, you are not really one who thinks that any proposition is to be accepted as true UNLESS there is some convincing evidence that it is NOT. If you were one such, you would also have to believe that people hear the faces on Mount Rushmore speaking to them in Swahili...since there is no evidence that they don't.

A whole bunch. Go find em. If you apply em to the first century and apostles only you might as well throw half of the Bible away. It was for them then there and all vanished anyway. God doesnt speak anymore to anyone. We dont have a great commission. It all happened in 70AD. Lets go read Harry Potter instead to enjoy ourselves and chit chat on a forum.

I miss the logic in saying that the record of what God did in ancient times must be thrown away as meaningless today...unless we can replicate it, that is.

What else that someone experienced in Old Testament times must, just must, be happening today as well? What, for example, about holding a conversation with a burning bush? Or a woman being turned into a pillar of salt. I don't think there is any evidence of that happening lately, although your contention seems to be that it must be going on since it is recorded in the Bible as happening to someone long ago.

We can know God exists because of the amazing complexity of creation. This does not equal God speaking to us, however. What it equals is God revealing himself in general revelation rather than special revelation.
When I read people's comments that "God spoke to me" it means they claim a special revelation from God, specifically to them.

What biblical evidence do we have that God is still giving special revelation to individual humans?

I notice that people really want to claim anecdotal stories, but providing biblical reasons for God using special revelation today seems to be lacking in this thread.

What text would you use to make an argument that God is providing special revelation today?

A whole bunch? If that's the case, you can share a few.
I'm skeptical. I don't think you even have a few. Prove me wrong.

Whoa. The OP dealt specifically with the idea of God SPEAKING AUDIBLY to all the people these days who claim to hear his VOICE. If we morph that point into something about God not communicating, in any fashion, with his people...then we will have changed the topic.

No, also if God tells a preacher to go to a place and do stuff not in an audible voice.

Do you believe God spoke post resurrection words that are unlawful to be uttered? Why do you believe that? And if He spoke then where's the proof that He stopped there?

Let's get back to the topic here. What evidence is there that all the people these days who claim to have heard God's voice speaking to them, audibly, in a language that they understand...are correct about it. Citing what God did to or with someone in Bible times does not prove that these people today are correct about their claims.

Again, you want proof i the physical of a spiritual event. Jesus said you will only see the sign of Jonah if you seek a sign. How many have to testify to the reality before you can accept by faith that it happens? God responds to faith, not doubt. Either you accept the thousands iof accounts over many generations or you dont. Simple as that

Yeh. That's pretty much what the OP asked for. So far, no one has any.

the physical of a spiritual event.
But the point is that it is not exclusively a spiritual event. It involves a claim of there being a PHYSICAL event, and that is what was inquired into here. The question was not about someone feeling that he had been guided in his thoughts to do something or other or of God opening the person's heart to a new realization, understanding, or something like that.

Jesus said you will only see the sign of Jonah if you seek a sign. How many have to testify to the reality before you can accept by faith that it happens?
The question was about people today who claim to have heard God speaking to them audibly.

And, by the way, I have to add that I see no justification for you to question my faith every time you disagree me on any issue. IMHO, that is no way to approach any religious disagreement.

Matthew 29 is a figment of your imagination. Care to try again?

I know you're too lazy. This is why I take your posts with a grain of salt.
