So the community is aware that it exists. We've had a couple newbies that said they never knew our little church was there nearby.
I am not against a church promoting itself. But, I am of the opinion that it doesn't have to. Or, it shouldn't have to.
A 'church' begins when a few believers gather together to worship God and Christ and fellowship with one another. However many or few they are doesn't matter. God provides in those members gifts of the Holy Ghost, to minister to that body. That includes pastor and teacher. And they function as a local church.
They are faithful in building upon the 'apostle's doctrine', as given in the Scripture. They share with one another what they have, making sure no believer is without. (Acts 2:42-47) And of course they naturally witness to those who are not believers.
And the Lord will add to the church who should be saved. (Acts 2:47)
I do miss the 'Statement of Faith' that churches use to have as you entered. I believe churches got away from that because they don't really know what they believe anymore or why, or care.
