What does Necromancy have to do in connection with the Gospel?

A powerful resource on the subject can be read for free, here - Sincerely Dead Dying, To Know Jesus by brother Aaron Earnest : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

In brief, if satan's statements, through the serpent, in Genesis are true, then the 'old man of sin' cannot ever die, and sin / sinners are immortalized eternally:

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

However, since God's words are actually truth (Psa. 119:142,151; Jhn. 17:17), it was stated that the 'old man of sin' does indeed 'perish' and 'surely dies':

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

This means, that attempting to engage in 'conversation' with the 'old man of sin' is Necromancy:

Those who adhere to 'immortal soul / spirit' theology, do not realize what they are saying / teaching by doing so, as they are actually 'seconding' or 'amening' the serpents ideology from the beginning, which is why the 'gospel' (Gal. 1:6-7) that they preach cannot truly deliver from sin, and ultimately immortalizes it in their theological position, and their adherents struggle all their lives in sin, never being able to be free from any sin, and must 'confess' over and over and over without any end, or hope in sight.

I pray people can see how the doctrine, on the state of the dead, on Necromancy, on the Everlasting Gospel itself, needs to have connection to the living "vine" (Jhn. 15;1,5), Jesus Christ, otherwise it / they has / have no life, no vitality, no power, to save, or deliver from anything, but are as branches withering, only to be burned up into smoke and ashes in the time to come.

I pray that these things are helpful to those who read and prayerfully consider (Pro. 18:13,17), before they comment.

I will be glad to discuss these things with any who likewise desire to do so. As for instance:

As a for instance, on page 8, the resource gives:

"... QUESTION: WHAT IS A SOUL (LIVING or DEAD)?
A “soul” (H5315, G5590; Lev. 22:11; Heb. 4:12) is a:
• “life” (Gen. 9:5; Mat. 6:25; Luk. 9:56; Act. 15:26, 27:10; 1 Jhn. 3:16; Rev. 12:11, &c. KJB), or
• “person/s” (Gen. 14:21; Num. 5:6, &c. KJB), or
• “mind/s” (Gen. 23:8; Eze. 23:28; Php. 1:27; Heb. 12:3, &c. KJB), or
• “will” (Deu. 21:14; Psa. 27:12, 41:2; Eze. 16:27 KJB), or
• “heart/s” (Exo. 23:9; Hos. 4:8; Eph. 6:6, &c. KJB), or
• “himself” / “themselves” (Lev. 11:43-44; 1 Kin. 19:4; Job 18:4; Jer. 37:9; Amo. 6:8, &c. KJB), or
• “creature” (living) (Gen. 1:21,24; Lev. 11:46, &c. KJB), or
• “dead” (creature) (Lev. 19:28, 21:1, 22:4; Num. 5:2, 6:11, 9:6-7,10 KJB), or
• “man” (Lev. 24:16-17; 2 Kin. 12:4; Isa. 49:7 KJB), or
• “beast” (Lev. 24:18 (x3) KJB).
• It can also be defined generally as a ‘being’, or living (or dead) existence. ..."
Consider one of the most stated phrases in the Bible, and known around the world, in many languages:
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

"perish" is contrasted with "everlasting life". Death or Life.

Who was right? God or the devil?

God:
Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Devil:
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

What did some of the very Reformers, like Martin Luther, believe?

"... [page 229] Confessions of Faith in Early Modern England by Brooke Conti, page 120

[ENGLISH] “... [page 120] Browne says, “... the Arabians, that the soules of men perished with their bodies, but should both bee raised againe at the Last Day” (I.7) ... it was far from obsolete. In fact, during the Reformation both psychosomnolence--the belief that the soul sleeps until the resurrection--and thnetopsychism--the belief that the body and soul both die and then both rise again--were quite common; Martin Luther himself appears to have subscribed to a form of psychosomnolence. 33 The northern Italian humanists, including those centered in the University of Padua, were also notably skeptical about the immortality of the soul, and it was their vocal doubts that led to the fifth Lateran Council’s condemnation of psychosomnolence as a heresy in 1515-1517. 34 ... Browne is familiar with the works of at least one of the Paduan skeptics, Pietro Pomponazzi. In De Immortalitate Animae (1516), Pomponazzi contended that, contra Aquinas, all the evidence pointed toward the mortality of the soul. ... declaring that ... the immortality of the soul could not be proved by philosophy ...” - Confessions of Faith in Early Modern England ..." - Sincerely Dead Dying, To Know Jesus by brother Aaron Earnest : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

WORKS OF MARTIN LUTHER TRANSLATED WITH INTORDUCTIONS AND NOTES, VOLUME VI (6), A.J. HOLMAN COMPANY AND THE CASTLE PRESS; PHILADELPHIA: PENNSYLVANIA (1932); pages 287-288

“... [page 287] St. Paul writes to those at Thessalonica [I Thess. 4:13], that they should not sorrow over the dead as the others who have no hope, but that they should comfort themselves with God’s Word, as those who possess sure hope of eternal life and the resurrection of the dead. For it is not wonder that those who have not hope grieve; nor can they be blamed for this. Since they are beyond the pale of the faith in Christ they either must cherish this temporal life alone and love it and be unwilling to lose it, or store up for themselves, after this life, eternal death and the wrath of God in hell, and go there unwillingly. Be we Christians, who have been re-deemed from all this through the precious blood of God’s [page 287-288]
Son, should train and accustom ourselves in faith to despise death and regard it as a deep, strong, sweet sleep; to con-sider the coffin as nothing other than a soft couch of ease or rest. As verily, before God, it truly is just this; for he testifies, John 11:21: Lazarus, our friend sleeps; Mat-thew 9:24: The maiden is not dead, she sleeps. Thus, too, St. Paul, in I Corinthians 15, removes from sight all hateful aspects of death as related to our mortal body and brings for-ward nothing but charming and joyful aspects of the prom-ised life. He says there [vv. 42ff] : It is sown in corrup-tion and will rise in incorruption; it is sown in dishonor (that is, a hateful, shameful form) and will rise in glory; it is sown in weakness and will rise in strength; it is sown a nat-ural body and will rise a spiritual body. ...” - Works Of Martin Luther Translated With Introductions And Notes Vol-vi : Aj Holman Company And The Castle Press : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

That we do not know; we satisfy ourselves with the example of bodily sleep, and with what God says: it is a sleep, as rest, and a peace. He who sleeps naturally knows nothing of that which happens in his neighbor's house; and nevertheless he still is living, even though, contrary to the nature of life, he is unconscious in his sleep. NECROMANCY IN THE BIBLE

I. NECROMANCY IN THE BIBLE: WHAT IT ACTUALLY WAS

Necromancy in the ancient world wasn’t “Harry Potter magic.” It was attempting to access the dead for knowledge, power, or guidance.
In Scripture, necromancy includes:
  • consulting spirits of the dead
  • mediums / spiritists
  • ancestor invocation
  • ritual attempts to gain forbidden knowledge
  • attempts to manipulate spiritual forces through the dead
The Bible treats this as real, not imaginary. Not “fake magic,” but dangerous spiritual contact with hostile powers.

II. WHY GOD FORBIDS NECROMANCY

The prohibition isn’t arbitrary. It’s theological.
Necromancy is forbidden because:

1. It bypasses God’s revelation

People sought the dead because they didn’t trust the living God.

2. It attempts to gain knowledge God has not given

Necromancy is a shortcut to “secret wisdom.”

3. It opens the door to demonic deception

Scripture consistently frames necromancy as contact with spirits, not actual dead humans.

4. It denies the finality of death and the sovereignty of God

Necromancy tries to reverse or manipulate the boundary God set.

III. NECROMANCY AND THE GOSPEL: THE SHOCKING CONNECTION

Here’s the part most people miss:
Necromancy is forbidden because God Himself would one day provide the only legitimate contact with the dead — resurrection.
Necromancy is a counterfeit of something God intended to do for real.

Let’s break this down.

1. Necromancy is a counterfeit resurrection

Humanity has always longed to:
  • speak to the dead
  • know what lies beyond
  • receive guidance from those who passed
  • overcome death’s silence
Necromancy is the fallen attempt to reach across the veil.
The Gospel is the holy fulfillment of that longing.

2. Necromancy tries to access the dead — the Gospel brings the dead back

Necromancy: “Bring up Samuel.” “Call the ancestors.” “Speak to the departed.”
The Gospel: “He is not here. He is risen.”
Necromancy reaches downward into death. The Gospel reaches upward into resurrection.

3. Necromancy seeks forbidden knowledge — the Gospel reveals the mystery openly

Necromancy: Hidden rituals. Secret knowledge. Forbidden wisdom.
The Gospel: “The mystery hidden for ages is now revealed in Christ.” (Colossians 1:26)
Necromancy is the shadow of humanity’s hunger for revelation. The Gospel is the substance.

4. Necromancy tries to manipulate spirits — the Gospel defeats them

Necromancy attempts to bargain with spirits. The Gospel proclaims Christ’s victory over:
  • death
  • demons
  • principalities
  • powers
Necromancy is spiritual negotiation. The Gospel is spiritual conquest.

5. Necromancy tries to break death’s barrier — Jesus actually breaks it

Necromancy: “Let us cross the boundary God set.”
The Gospel: God Himself crosses it.
Necromancy is humanity trying to cheat death. The Gospel is God destroying death.

IV. THE THEOLOGICAL CORE: NECROMANCY IS A MISDIRECTED LONGING FOR RESURRECTION

Every human culture has necromancy because every human heart knows death is wrong.
Necromancy is the fallen instinct that says:
“Death shouldn’t be the end. There must be a way to reach beyond it.”
The Gospel says:
“Yes — but not through forbidden arts. Through the resurrection of the Son of God.”
Necromancy is humanity clawing at the grave. The Gospel is God opening it

V. THE FINAL CONNECTION: JESUS IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SPEAK FROM BOTH SIDES OF DEATH

Necromancers claim to speak to the dead.
Jesus is the dead who speaks — because He lives again.
Necromancy seeks a voice from the grave. The Gospel gives the Living Word who passed through death and returned with authority.
Necromancy seeks forbidden contact. The Gospel gives holy contact — the risen Christ.
Necromancy tries to summon the dead. The Gospel promises the dead will rise.
Necromancy is the counterfeit. Resurrection is the reality.
Hierarchical Breakdown of the Occult

I. THE OCCULT (Top Level)

Definition:

Any attempt to access supernatural knowledge, power, or influence outside of God’s authorized channels.
This is the umbrella category.

II. MAJOR BRANCHES OF THE OCCULT

These are the five primary biblical divisions:

1. Divination

Seeking hidden knowledge through supernatural means. Examples:
  • omens
  • astrology
  • lots
  • scrying
  • tarot
  • fortune‑telling

2. Sorcery / Magic Arts

Attempting to manipulate spiritual forces through rituals. Examples:
  • spells
  • enchantments
  • ritual magic
  • witchcraft (ritual‑based)

3. Spiritism / Mediumship

Attempting to communicate with spirits. Examples:
  • mediums
  • channeling
  • spirit guides
  • trance communication

**4. Necromancy

Attempting to access the dead for knowledge, power, or guidance. Examples:
  • calling up the dead
  • ancestor invocation
  • grave rituals
  • “speaking with” departed souls
  • consulting the dead for prophecy
Necromancy is a subcategory of spiritism, but distinct because its target is specifically the dead.

5. Occult Philosophy / Esoteric Knowledge

Systems that claim secret spiritual truths. Examples:
  • Gnosticism
  • Hermeticism
  • Kabbalistic magic
  • Mystery‑religion initiation

III. WHERE NECROMANCY SITS IN THE STRUCTURE

Here’s the exact placement:

THE OCCULT

→ Forbidden Spiritual Contact → Spiritism / Mediumship → Necromancy (communication with the dead)
Necromancy is not:

  • divination (though it may include it)
  • sorcery (though rituals may be used)
  • esoteric philosophy (though it may be justified by it)
Necromancy is its own distinct lane because its target is the dead, not spirits in general.

IV. WHY NECROMANCY IS TREATED AS A DISTINCT CATEGORY

Because biblically:
  • It attempts to cross the boundary of death
  • It seeks forbidden knowledge
  • It opens the door to demonic impersonation
  • It is a counterfeit of resurrection
  • It directly challenges God’s authority over life and death
Necromancy is the illicit version of humanity’s longing to overcome death — which the Gospel fulfills legitimately through resurrection.

V. ULTRA‑CONDENSED VERSION (One Glance)

THE OCCULT

  1. Divination
  2. Sorcery / Magic Arts
  3. Spiritism
    • Necromancy
  4. Esoteric / Occult Philosophy
  5. Idolatry / Ritual Systems
Necromancy = attempting to access the dead.

Excellent, now, according to scripture, is the 'old man of sin' supposed to be dead?

Rom_6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
2Co_5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Eph_4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Col_3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
2Co_5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
Eph_2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Col_2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Therefore, consulting the 'old man of sin', in the lifestyle, habits, &c, is attempting Necromancy ... it is consultation with the 'dead', rather than with the Living and Resurrected Christ Jesus.

is consultation with the 'dead'
No, it most certainly is not Necromancy. It is consulting or living in evil. Consulting with the devil is called satanism. If he's dead, you won't be talking to him either, just so you know. Necromancy is attempting to contact the dead spirits (people formerly living). It is not living a sinful life.

📜 SCRIPTURES AGAINST THE OCCULT

1. Against Necromancy & Consulting the Dead

  • Isaiah 8:19 — Condemns consulting spirits of the dead instead of God.

  • Leviticus 20:27 — Mediums and spiritists condemned.
  • Isaiah 19:3 — Egyptians resort to idols and spirits of the dead; condemned.

2. Against Sorcery, Witchcraft, Magic Arts

  • Exodus 22:18 — “You must not allow a sorceress to live.”
  • Deuteronomy 18:10 — Forbids witchcraft, soothsaying, interpreting omens, sorcery.
  • Isaiah 47:12 — Condemns magic spells and sorceries.
  • Micah 5:12 — God will cut off sorceries and fortune‑tellers.
  • Ezekiel 13:20 — God is against magic charms that ensnare souls.

🔥 ULTRA‑CONDENSED VERSION

If you want the “pocket list,” here it is:

  • Leviticus 20:6, 27 — God opposes those who seek them
  • Deuteronomy 18:10 — No witchcraft, sorcery, omens
  • Isaiah 8:19 — Do not consult the dead
  • Isaiah 47:12 — Condemns sorcery
  • Micah 5:12 — No fortune‑tellers
  • Ezekiel 13:20 — God against magic charms
  • 2 Kings 17:17; 21:6 — Divination, sorcery condemned

  • Revelation 21:8 — Sorcerers judged
In the case of unrepentant sin:

“Lord, I call You anew into my life.”

Lord Jesus, I come to You again — I confess my sin, Forgive me of my sins
Jesus, I believe You died for me.
I believe You rose again. I believe You are Lord.

Come into my life, be my Lord and Savior anew.

I disagree entirely. Which is why the Gospel I adhere to is not the same as what you adhere to. You mean to tell me, that the 'old man of sin' was not your 'former living' and ought to be a dead spirit / mind / heart?

Necromancy is communicating with the dead, and a Necromancer is one who does this.

It is a forbidden practice.

Be wise and understand the scripture of Saul and the Witch of Endor, there is more than one lesson to be learned from it.

Necromancy is communicating with the dead, and a Necromancer is one who does this. ...
Hence the scriptures I cited in regards the 'old man of sin' - What does Necromancy have to do in connection with the Gospel?

"... Rom_6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
2Co_5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Eph_4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Col_3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
2Co_5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
Eph_2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Col_2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; ..."

The 'old man of sin' is "dead", and thus attempting to engage with it, is, by very definition, Necromancy. It is seeking to 'bring up the dead' (the old mind / heart of sin) to life to obtain something from its lifestyle, speech, knowledge, actions. Many who believe in the pagan dualism of 'immortal soul / spirit' theology, immortalize the 'old man of sin', by teaching it cannot ever really die, and will always be with the new man, alive in some ghastly way, and thus they never have victory over their sins, because, borrowing from the theology of the devil in Genesis, they have believed that they will "not surely die" (Gen. 3:4).

It is a forbidden practice.
That is not in question by the OP - at all. It is already agreed to, granted, accepted, acknowledged, and taught most plainly.

What makes you think, and imply, that I am not "wise" by scriptural standards?

The Seventh-day Adventist, unlike others, actually "keep the commandments of God" (Rev. 12:17, 14:12); see Exo. 20:1-17, as Jesus, the example, did (Jhn. 15:10).

Psa_111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

... and understand the scripture ...
What makes you think, and imply, that I do not "understand the scripture" in any of my replies, since the OP was first given?

Psa_111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
Psa_119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Psa_119:73 JOD. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
Psa_119:99 I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.
Psa_119:104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
Psa_119:125 I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.
Psa_119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

I would say (in an amen to the scripture itself) that those who do not keep God's commandments (Exo. 20:1-17) do not have "understanding" at all, but are the ones without the light they need to see by, and are wandering aimlessly:

Pro_6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
Isa_8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

1Ti 1:6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
1Ti 1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

... of Saul and the Witch of Endor ...
Already addressed in the OP material. Did you not consider it, as scriptural counsel says to (Pro. 18:13,17)?

..., there is more than one lesson to be learned from it.
Yes, and those are spoken of in conjunction with the point about the dead 'old man of sin', and seeking anything from it - in practicing spiritual Necromancy.

1Co 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
In your responses, they seem to only focus upon the one, and do not make the important connection with the other, as they are related in their bond, neither existing without the other.

'old man of sin'
Are you referring to your old self before Christ (as the 'old man of sin'). I thought you were referring to Satan, the devil, or the antichrist.

I am citing the scriptures:

"... Rom_6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
2Co_5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Eph_4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
Col_3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
2Co_5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
Eph_2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Col_2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; ..."

I thought you were referring to Satan, the devil, or the antichrist.
The 'old man of sin' is not "Satan, the devil, or the antichrist", though the 'old man of sin' does serve such.
