I was thinking today that the video of the following song is strangely prophetic - not in any macro sense - just in a personal sense. The former and original lead singer was kicked (though she was planning on leaving before this) from the band some years ago and this song was written around that time with the new (now also former) singer. It features all the original band members (instrumentalists) as female - flashing for moments into the real band members. Prophetic how? The original singer is now a solo artist with a set of session musicians who play her music. I suspect that, as she was never a contributor to Nightwish's music other than performing what was written for her - that her solo stuff is very likely composed or at least partially composed by others - but she gets the credit. Also because her instrumental skills on piano haven't yet been shown - but are credited to her nonetheless in some of the stand out areas. In any case - I wonder if the intent of doing the video the way it's done was some foresight into that solo career. It's a common theme with very popular bands with very popular talented singers - they go solo - sometimes with great success - but often not - and soloist is exposed for having an illusion of grandeur - they were an important, but not vital - part in the machine - but did not run it nor could do all that well without the other parts.

The sound of silence (the time-honored version rather than the Simon and Garfunkel one...)
