I'm having a Chinese-ish dish tonight consisting of:
Long grain rice.
Lettuce (fresh)
Re-hydrated :
Carrots pieces
Mushroom " "
Onion " "
gently in hot water, then mostly drained, adding in a little soy sauce, oil, honey
Broccoli (steamed)
Cost to me: Less than $3.
Cost to buy at restaurant: Between $12-14
I am planning to have pasta ($0.20) and Pasta sauce ($0.70) and some cheese ($0.40)
Total cost $1.30
I had a chicken biscuit breakfast sandwich ($0.83).
My meal contains no fried food, no bread that had to have nutrients added back in, contains veggies, retains nearly all the nutrition and definitely all the goodness of taste, while also giving me the best dollar value compared to the take-out equivalent.
I win.
hamburger and french fries
