There is the evidence for the women who was 14 then he molested her.

The American press has offered NOTHING, no evidence whatsoever..... not even suggesting that ANYONE ON THE PLANET was informed of this until a few days ago.... for any of the 4.

Yes, it matters that this accusation which has NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER - none - supposedly happened 39 years ago. There are limits on persecution for a reason, a statue of limitations - it eventually becomes IMPOSSIBLE for a defense to be made, although in this case that's irrelevant since there is no evidence being presented against him - by anyone, for anything, ever. And it won't matter: the liberal press has destroyed his life and probably his campaign and will keep that Republican out of the Senate. As soon as it is clear he won't be elected, all this will go away.

If I lived in Alabama, and I don't so this has no relevance to me, I would vote my morality and not be swayed by this abandonment of the Rule of Law and by this BASELESS accusation from THIRTY-NINE years ago. I realize the Press believes it must control elections and I agree it does to a major degree, but I would vote my moral convictions and not condemn Roy Moore.

Her statement is evidence Josiah. The evidence of the victim. In a court it is counted as evidence. In the press it is still evidence. Even if you say it is not.

The reality that she has NOTHING to support it.... the reality that she told NO ONE (not her mother, not a sibling, not a friend) before a few days ago.... the reality that for THIRTY NINE YEARS she said NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO ANYONE.... the reality that the target is a conservative Republican HATED by the press and the press is making a mountain out of this - suddenly, after 39 years of this man being quite the figure in Alabama - makes her "statement" meaningless. My morality is that one is innocent until SHOWN beyond a reasonable doubt to be GUILTY. I find nothing in the Bible to suggest that one is guilty if there is no evidence, with zero witnesses, after 39 years.....

Only her memory of the events. She told two friends within days of the event. She told her mother years later yet still many years ago. That is evidence too but not of the event, only of the timing of it and that the event is not a concoction of the allegedly "liberal" media. How far are you going to go in attempting to discredit her, Josiah?

In the USA 71% of Evangelical Christians - a group usually associated with "moral values" in their voting - voted for Donald Trump. A man divorced and remarried several times, alleged to have made unwelcome and improper sexual advances to numerous women, who concealed his tax status both prior to the election and after it, and who is alleged to have had ties to foreign powers (specifically Russia) in the foreign powers' efforts to influence the USA presidential and congressional elections in November 2016. I am guessing the desire for a voice in the corridors of power in the USA trumped moral values for those voters. Which is odd when one considers that the moral values are allegedly Christian values which form a fundamental part of religious identity for Evangelical Christians in the USA.

I know this is a politically themed thread about the current US president and the wisdom of electing him to office but...

The common person usually doesn't have a lot of power over these things, unless they are in a position to advise the president, or hold some power to deny orders (which soldiers have if they are willing to risk that)

Otherwise, the common person can most effectively vote their moral values with their purchasing dollars. By withholding them or spending them based on their moral convictions.

Only those who are willing to suspend ordinary reasoning would conclude--based on what is known now--that the Washington Post's story is correct. But that's not just a plea for fair play or for waiting for evidence or for giving the accused the customary benefit of being innocent until proven guilty. In addition to all of that, the story as it stands at present is certainly suspect, suspicious, fishy.

Innocent until proven guilty is a maxim of the law not of God. It's useful in a court. Not so useful when evaluating a story in a newspaper or other media source. Quite bad for voting one's moral values.

Then she must have started the lie 38 years ago in 1979 since that is when she told the story to two friends.

What if nobody got paid? What if he did molest a 14 year old girl when he was 32? What if she is telling the truth and has no financial benefit from doing so? What if he is a complete hypocrite?

As logical and sensible as that reply is, it falls on deaf ears when liberals see an opportunity to destroy any political opponent. They do it all the time, and they are most likely doing it in this case as well. Even evidence of the Post's newsman offering to pay someone to lie about Judge Moore is disinteresting to them.

Possibly the most damning fact about this concerns the timing--but not the timing of something alleged to have happened many years ago. Judge Moore has run for office, been in office and out of office, many times in his career. And in all of them he was a controversial figure. No one raised these charges at any of those times. They did not do so when he declared for the Senate earlier this year. They did not do so when it looked like he'd win the primary against Luther Strange. They did not do so when he defeated Sen. Strange. In fact, they did not do so until...what? The deadline for taking his name off the ballot had passed by a few days. Then, and only then, were several women produced by the newspaper that had endorsed the Democrat opponent of Judge Moore in December. They didn't come forth on their own, note, but were paid or induced in some other way to say what we are given to think they said.

Roy Moore's public profile is not in question it is his conduct when he was 32 years old. He is accused of molesting a 14 year old and the person making the accusation appears to be credible. It may go to the courts - as it should if a crime was committed - where the testimony of the woman who was the 14 year old will be tested for credibility and truth. Her mother's testimony will also be entered - she is 71 years old now. The testimony of others may also play a role - for example the two childhood friends that the 14 year old told of the molestation within days of it happening. Attempting to discredit her and her claim by alleging that she was paid to make false accusations and is in some way tied in with "liberals" only looks like blaming the victim.

Vote on moral values is a catch cry of sorts. The question here is how does that square with deciding to vote for Roy Moore and Donald Trump?

But nobody knows who's the victim. I read that at least 40 percent of rape charges are false accusations and those are the ones where women admitted they were false, so it can be much more. It can be true or not. Noone knows. But if it's false and the man is the victim, those women don't even get jail, so they can go on w it and the real victims aren't believed.

Not just one victim. Five women have come forward. Three between 16 and 18 and two under aged at the time that Roy Moore is said to have "dated" and molested them. Five women who did not know one another. Each telling their story of Roy Moore's apparently predatory pursuit of very young women and girls when he was in his thirties.

Vote your immoral values say evangelicals.

ALABAMA EVANGELICALS MORE LIKELY TO SUPPORT ROY MOORE AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS, POLL SHOWS

(source)

Nearly 40 percent of Evangelical Christians in Alabama say they're now more likely to vote for Roy Moore after multiple allegations that he molested children, even as voters across the historically red state now seem to be punishing Moore for his past actions, a new poll shows.

A plurality of evangelicals — 37 percent — described themselves as more likely to support Moore because of recent sexual assault allegations levied against him, while only 28 percent were less likely to do so. Thirty-four percent of the supposedly devout Christians said that the allegations reported last week in the Washington Post made no difference in their support for Moore.

I hope that's old news. This last woman is married, christian, has a Facebook page, not a weird past like the other. I got the idea they all want him to go now, but he doesn't want to. Regardless if its true or not which I now believe it is, this guy is a judge who lets a rapist go free and keeps kids from their mom who's a lesbian and they have to stay w dad who molests them.

I dont see a problem with this if you believe they are political or that the times were different back then and he is being held to a standard that did not exist back then. Personally I think this is all politically motivated and I am not republican which anyone on here knows if they have seen my posts on issues
