Biblical laws on immigration - the laws about strangers living among Israel - are suited for their times when travel was slow and people rarely did it in large numbers but now when travel is quicker and people do it in huge numbers and many are seeking a better life with more economic opportunities, nations want to restrict access. None of the common people had passports in ancient times, and border security was virtually non-existent. Nowadays border security is well entrenched and a lot of money and personnel are devoted to maintaining it. So, the question for Christians in the matter of immigration is, "shall we receive the stranger as we would want to be received if we were in their situation? shall we be kind and welcoming to refugees?" And the concomitant is, "shall we vote according to our morals in this matter?"
