Yes but how can you see who is who? They throw away their passports and creep in. Christian refugees get persecuted by them.

I'm not sure that "it's difficult to tell one from another" is a good justification for "let anyone and everyone in without limit".

Those are all good verses....directed toward a nation of God, Israel. A 'theocracy'. Is your country a theocracy? The U.S. certainly isn't a theocracy.

I'm all for the U.S. , or any nation, to abide by the Old Testament doctrines. But they won't. The nations of the world cannot run their governments on the basis of Old or New Testament doctrines.

I have some good Old Testament verses I would like to ask you if we should follow them. Would you like to hear them? And, as far as the Sermon on the Mount, (Matt. 5), it is nothing but law...more stringent than the Mosaic Law."

Lees
Sure but I'm glad that our country has democrats and a small christian party who want to help them and I won't vote for the crazy populists. Then it would be also my fault.

We used border patrol agents, reception and processing centers, even courts in order to screen prospective immigrants. At least until the Biden administration, that is. And it worked.

If the government of the Netherlands is loose concerning its borders, that probably does invite illegal immigration and some will get in without authorization; but we here on this forum were talking about the idea of an "invasion," not just immigration.
They don't screen them at all?

I feel like our country deserves better than a Biden and Trump rematch. Trump might be in jail and Biden probably won't live throughout his second term, which means Harris would be in charge for a while. There is no way she's ready to lead.

Biblical laws on immigration - the laws about strangers living among Israel - are suited for their times when travel was slow and people rarely did it in large numbers but now when travel is quicker and people do it in huge numbers and many are seeking a better life with more economic opportunities, nations want to restrict access. None of the common people had passports in ancient times, and border security was virtually non-existent. Nowadays border security is well entrenched and a lot of money and personnel are devoted to maintaining it. So, the question for Christians in the matter of immigration is, "shall we receive the stranger as we would want to be received if we were in their situation? shall we be kind and welcoming to refugees?" And the concomitant is, "shall we vote according to our morals in this matter?"

What we individuals should do as Christians is not the same as what the government of the nation needs to do.

Why don't they say they have to retire with 67?
For the same reason that they don't say the candidate has to be a college graduate or a current officeholder or a member in good standing of some political party, etc.

If the field of candidates is pruned significantly before the vote, the election ceases to be fair. Unfortunately, we already have enough fiddling with such regulations that to bar EVERYONE over a certain age for that reason alone would be even worse.

And what's magical about 67? Why not 70 or 65?

Well, what's magical about having to be age 35?
Good question, but the presumption at the time was that being a mature adult who'd lived life for some time before taking command of the whole country (as contrasted with the age needed to be a Congressman or the slightly higher one for Senate) was not an unreasonable consideration. Today, if we were first writing the Constitution, we'd probably make that 21 instead, but the principle is still reasonable and we still apply it in other aspects of life, whereas people simply do not age at the same rate. There have been successful leaders at age 80+, and then there are people who are 'old before their years,' as we say.

67 is just the new law where I live. You have to work until you're 67, unless you have money enough to retire early and it used to be 65, but that got too expensive.

Oh I just see we have no age restriction either here for a prime minister or anyone in politics. Had no idea. This guy is 71.

That's not possible. I think it's crazy that the ones who come here don't have to work and get a nice house, while the ones who already live here and work can't find a house. But that's socialism and it's not gonna change. Else you get the same problem as in America, that they dump it on an ex or the family is so kind to take some moochers in and then they can't get rid of them. I'd say let everyone in who wants to come in, no different rules, so quit letting white Dutch moochers get a big fat house and govt money too if they refuse to work, which is not an option, so I'll vote for the christian union, who gives them the houses you can't get yourself, cause who cares, welcome everybody, I don't want a bomb and I don't have to pay it anyway. At the office now live Ukrainians. I think it's great and they should also help Syrians like that, but build more houses and make them cheaper. Don't set people up against each other. And those mooching housewives should be forced to work. That is just irritating if they force you to pay for that. My ex remarried a woman from Brazil. He did not have enough money, so she was not welcome and had to leave every 3 months, because she might divorce and then she costs the govt money. So that costed a fortune to let her fly from Brazil to Holland and back all the time and she just quit her job. I'm a dumb foreign woman who is used to be taken care of by a man. Helloho! Then take a rich man. Not my ex. Goodness. He could not feed the kids. I borrowed money from the bank to help him out, because she costed a fortune. When I stopped being so dumb, she left within a week. That's a good law that they don't let such ppl in. Her daughter was a filthy rich lawyer. Let her take care of her own mother or let her take care of herself. Those rules from Acts. Don't work, don't eat.

There's also the question of which ones are genuinely seeking help, which ones are genuinely seeking the chance to earn a better life, and which ones are simply seeking a different selection of victims.

If I were in their situation I'm not sure I would thank my new host nation by distributing illegal substances and raping their women.

We have women who went to marry an ISIS guy and they were horrid there to other women, treated them as slaves. Trump was like: bye! We're going! Take care of that yourself. Can't blame him. But now because of our stupid weak laws we had to take them back and our punishments are also nothing. It's insane. But they have a Dutch passport! Who cares?

Humanism changed who's my neighbour, the Samaritan who helped the poor victim, to you have to work for the guys who tried to kill him and let them chill and live in a nice house you pay for, while you live in your parents' basement.
