Reviewing financial goals, for the purposes of budgeting for things that I want and things that I need. Reviewing habits that need to be kept or changed or discarded in the context of these goals. When I got the job I have now - so many things had gone wrong - now I've fixed a few things - and some others have popped up, but I think I can still work around it and get what I want and need. Discipline is needed though. Looking at the numbers makes it easier to keep the habits acquired or sought after and to dismiss the others that are time or money wasters.
I'm not living paycheck to paycheck anymore - a little saved. I don't understand how people can do this. Keeping the goals in mind and what makes them harder to obtain helps a lot with reigning in the wasteful habits and keeping the ones that benefit me.
