Listening to a self-made 'Spotify' playlist that I call "headphone jams" - mostly 70's and 80's stuff that are ~ 10 minutes or longer. It's some good late night listening and reminds me of the old days of classic FM radio.

Missing walking on the beach watching the sun rise and collecting shells. Not such rich pickings on the shell front this year but got a few good ones, as well as a curious piece of driftwood.

I've been asked to lead the devotional for the Baptist mens group on Sunday afternoon so I have been getting ready for that. We are looking at Psalm 139:1-18 God's Omniscience and Omnipresence

Got my walk around town in, and spent some time with my table saw cutting up pieces of an old pallet. I'm turning the cross bars into wooden crosses with a view to selling them at the local flea market. I've got a simple jig set up to rabbet the sections so they actually make crosses. The wood isn't in perfect condition but for this use I think that adds character to them. I'm also feeding them to the table saw very slightly obliquely and slowly, which means the blade creates some burn marks on the cut edges. My wife likes the look of the ones I've already made so I cut some more wood ready to make some more. I've also got some other woods, which I plan to cut more cleanly, in order to make some that aren't quite so rough at the edges. Since they use wood I've had to pay for and need to be made to a higher standard I'll need to charge a bit more for them.

Happy Friday all! How are you? Today, because it’s another awfully cold, wet, dark and gloomy day outside, feeling like 10C, just enjoying the animated Disney movie “Beauty and the Beast” made in 1991 on YouTube before falling asleep tonight.

Today's woodworking job was to fix an old wooden cutting board that split along one of the joins. Sadly it put paid to other woodworking plans for the day, since it took out my bench and five of my six clamps that are suited to smaller work. Tomorrow I will unclamp it, sand the entire board and treat it with oil. Not only do we get a cutting board back but I also get my clamps back. Perhaps I need some more clamps. People say you can never have too many clamps and I'm starting to see why. Hopefully my local hardware store will have a special again soon.

I remembered I still had the cutting block clamped, so I took the clamps off it and sanded it. Then I put some cutting block oil on it. It's starting to look rather nice now. My wife was thrilled - I didn't realise it was her grandmother's cutting block. Then while the oil was drying I sanded another cutting block that belonged to a former member of our church - he was our friend's uncle and we were very fond of him. He died last year, and we have a few bits and pieces that were his.

Howdy sup there guys man! How are you today? Today, I’ve just had my usual weekly 3 hours therapy session both by phone and online. Tonight, just way too exhausted to do anything else before tucking myself to sleep.

Wow, I haven't been on CH as much. Today my husband took off work and we're driving out to Staples to get ink for our printer. That's pretty much the event for the day since it's going to rain all day long outside. I'll work on my craft forum later if I have time.

Raining here but supposed to stop later. Maybe I can get in my walk then, if not I'll end up doing laps of the church to get my step goal met. This afternoon a friend is coming to help me shift some furniture so I need to decide exactly where it's going and make sure there's a clear path to get from where it is to where I want it to be. Since the weather is supposed to be grim I might as well stay home and do some stuff with my woodworking and photography, I've got a load of pictures from our recent break to look through.

The weather has been generally chilly and damp all day so I did some laps of the church to get my step count, then got busy turning wood into sawdust. It's surprising just how much dust it creates - I've been using a router to cut a rabbet about 1.5" wide and 3/16" deep through a 1.5" wide board. Doing that through 12 boards left a remarkable pile of dust on the floor - when I think the total volume of the removed wood should have been barely six cubic inches it's amazing just how far it spreads. It's another chance to be thankful for the big separator I built a year or two back.

I also got another one of my wife's cutting boards sanded and oiled. Two of them look like they've been cleaned up, one of them looks like a totally new board. Out of curiosity I also oiled a couple of wooden side bowls we have. That made them look a little livelier but didn't make them look like a totally new item, like oiling the cutting blocks did. But then the cutting blocks are decades old - my wife's grandmother who owned them died in the 1980s so we know these things are 30+ years old.
