The maple bowl is finished on the lathe. It's tricky to sand on the lathe because the fibers cut one way and then lay flat when I sand. Some lathes offer the option to turn the other way for sanding, but mine is an old one that doesn't, so I just do the best I can. Now it's sitting in a box of shavings to help slow the drying process, because I turned the wood when it was still green.
