I'm done with outside maintenance for now. Next is washing/waxing my vehicle once I get a day I don't need to do anything else.

Oh heavens... never enough time in the day to wash mine. Been months. Luckily it's a color where I can get away with it being neglected a little. But I should get out there and do it myself as well, now that the weather is getting nicer. :):D

I figure it needs to get done before winter because I'm so bad at keeping it clean then!

Really good day today. I had a couple of errands to run in town, my new daughter had the day off work so she got the last couple of things updated to reflect her new name, and then my wife and I had lunch with her and just hung out for a while.

Now I get to do some more floor sanding. I've got the light connected in the room so I don't need to use work lights, but there are no window covering yet so anyone passing by can see in. Oh well, if they want to watch me sand the floor they're welcome to the view.

I woke up with kind of a weird feeling in my throat. Is it allergies? Or am I catching something. I don't feel sick, just a throat thing. I don't have much to do thankfully today, so I can take it easy.

Just waking up. Hoping to spend the day with a friend and many things to discuss. Other than that, catching up on the threads at CH.

Some good times, although with a bit of frustration. Trying to figure out just what I need to do in order to get my new daughter's birth certificate updated, dealing with officialdom that can't get their story straight, but after phone calls and emails and two trips to the local courthouse I think we've got it all sorted out.

We also had her over for dinner last night and went for a drive in the mountains after dark. We didn't expect to see anything interesting in the sky because the forecast was for 70% cloud cover, and what we actually got was more like 100% cloud cover. But when we got back home the sky was totally clear, so we watched the stars for a while and she saw her first ever shooting star with us. That felt pretty special. We've talked to her about our little trips into the mountains to watch everything from fireflies to shooting stars to comets, but last night was the first time she joined us for one of our trips.

I've had a bit of a sore throat all day. Tomorrow is a memorial for a former church member, and I really want to go to it. So I'm heading to be early in hopes that I wake up A-Okay!

The floor I talked about before is now sanded and has lacquer on it, and looks very nice.

The adjacent room is now painted, although the ceiling needs an extra coat to cover where the drywall seams are because the wide strips of mud show through a little. Then I can get the ceiling fan fitted and the sockets connected up and powered up.

I need to figure out what to do with two radiators before I can really get busy with the floor, and they weigh about 400lb each so it's not a trivial process to move them. I also need to measure the windows so I can order the wood I need to cut window trim and window sills, and measure the room precisely so I can get some baseboards ordered and prepared.

At this rate I'll have two rooms completely finished before Christmas, and can move on to some downstairs space. I need to move a smaller radiator (about 200lb or so) around the house, up the stairs and into about the furthest point from where it currently is, and have my heating guy run pipes to it. Once that's done I'm very close to having some space downstairs ready to be drywalled.

It's good to be making rapid progress after so long.

I figured out how to move radiators around. I found a couple of wheeled platforms from Harbor Freight that were reduced as a special for Inside Track club members. They are designed for moving cars, and a pair of them are rated at 1500lb (I forget if that's 1500lb per platform or per pair, it doesn't matter for my purposes). They are also pretty low to the ground, so I could lift one end of the radiator while my wife slid the platform under the legs, then put the brakes on the platform so it wouldn't roll while I lifted the other end.

The wheels are obviously heavy duty but the only mark they made on the floor was a very slight groove as they rolled. So now two radiators are sitting in the room I've mostly finished, and I can get at the floor in my latest work room. So now comes a lot of time on my knees, sanding and lacquering the floor. I'm not looking forward to the lacquering part, usually I'd open a window and use a fan to vent the fumes outside but when it's below 20 degrees outside I don't plan on leaving a window open all day. I guess we'll just have to deal with the fumes, although it's a low VOC lacquer so they aren't as bad as the fast-drying stuff.

I still haven't figured out how to drag a 200lb lump of iron up the stairs, although at least now I know how to move it once it is upstairs.

I'm sitting in my living room with the tv on (not really watching it) and I'm on my laptop (obviously since I'm online).

We got a few inches over the past couple of days. Now it's super cold outside and will be for the next two weeks I see. Stay warm!

Yikes!! I didn't check our windchill but it's 14 F right now and tonight's gonna be 7. Let your faucets drip slow while you sleep to avoid frozen pipes!
