Just got done making 2 dozen cupcakes. I'm going to bring them over to the local nursing home where I volunteer. After we all have brunch & cupcakes, we're going to play Bingo. Always a fun time when I go there

Cold is good. I like the cold more than the heat.

It helps in the winter. A few people I know keep their house at 70 degrees and pay through the nose for heating. I put loads of insulation in my house and keep the heat at 66. It makes quite a difference.

My wife isn't as amenable to cold air as I am. When it goes below about 60 she gets more vocal

LBJ was really nasty. He was a Democrat so maybe that's why it's all hushed up by the media now after Trump's bad comment. LBJ was worse. The things Johnson said and did were despicable.

Lazy day today. Had a chat with our pastor and then pretty much sat on my rear for the rest of the morning. Nice walk this afternoon, and I just got done fitting 30-odd feet of pipe insulation in the basement. I picked some up at the hardware store while I was getting some wire mesh to keep bugs and beasties from getting in through the ventilation gaps in the attic. Trouble was, I got the coarse mesh to stop larger creatures and provide some strength but forgot the fine mesh to keep bugs out. So I get to go back tomorrow to get what I missed today.

My plan is to block things from getting in and fill the spaces with sound deadening insulation. Hopefully that will save money on heating and make everything a little quieter indoors. That would make life so much better.

Seriously lazy day today. Had to cancel a morning meeting because I've come down with some kind of nasty barking cough. According to my tracker I slept for 16 hours over the course of yesterday evening and this morning. Aside from sending a text to cancel my meeting I didn't surface until lunchtime and spent most of the afternoon drifting in and out of sleep in my recliner.

Now I'm feeling more human, although my throat and nose are still feeling delicate. Hopefully I can kick this thing soon.

I had a pretty good day, today. I was off work, which is always good. I studied the Lutheran Confessions after I read selected chapters of the Bible this morning. Thought I'd swing by here and see how things are going and will probably start posting here a bit more regularly than I had been. I'm reading a new book, " God's Hand on America," by Michael Medved and I'm finding it very interesting.

Day 3 of whatever this bug is. I feel like I've turned a corner but still have a little way to go. At least the headaches only lasted for one day. My wife started to decline after me so I suspect today will be her lowest point. Glad I got our piles of paperwork out of the way before this came down - I can't imagine trying to do stuff to a deadline when thinking clearly doesn't quite work.

Throat is still croaky, can't get more than a few words out without feeling like I need to cough. But at least the coughing doesn't hurt any more. I'll live.
