Got a run in this morning. I'm trying to run more of the uphill sections where I've historically walked them. It's frustrating because it lowers my overall average speed but the plan is that once I can run the uphill sections it will be easier to run for longer, which will then bring my overall average speed back up.
Then I decided it was time to do the plumbing work in the basement, since my wife was out and I could turn off the water to the entire house and drain everything without bothering her. It was an easy enough job, although a little fiddly. For some reason we had a hot water outdoor tap. I'm not sure why it was there, we've never used it and my wife said she didn't feel the need for a hot tap outdoors, so that's coming out as well. And now the outdoor tap works again, which is good. Next up is to find a time to clean off my bicycle that hasn't moved in years - with the outdoor tap working I can soap it up and have a good way to clean it off afterwards. The old section of hose I've come close to throwing away several times will yet come in handy, assuming it doesn't leak. If it leaks I'll keep the reel and replace the hose.
And of course along the way some more of the old plumbing is removed, and joins the stack of scrap copper piling up in my basement. I'm hoping by the time I take this lot to the scrap metal merchant it will be worth enough to make the trip worthwhile.
