My wife and I got our walk in this morning before it got too warm.

I'm debating going for a last-ditch attempt to earn the month's running badge on my tracker's fitness software. I currently have a whisker over 26 miles and need to get to 50 by the end of the month. It's a tall order but might just be doable. My 8-mile loop three times would be enough.

The software is curious in that it lets you decide what kind of exercise you are doing. In theory you could register it as a run and then bimble around the loop at a slow walking pace. Practically speaking I don't log something as a run unless I'm making at least a reasonable effort to actually run for a decent proportion of it. I don't know if my legs would thank me for running an 8-mile loop three times in four days in this weather. I suspect not.

Doing a lot of errands this morning before my daughter comes by with the pets. We'll be pet sitting for a week.

Not a whole lot on the agenda for today. My shiny new fitness tracker gave me an "excellent" sleep score last night. I'm debating whether to go for a run or a hike in the woods today.

Pushed harder than I intended today. My "suggested workout" was at a pace I struggle to maintain because I find it too fast to walk and too slow to jog, so I set off at a gentler pace than normal. Sadly I didn't leave enough time after lunch and it was warmer than I expected so I ended up working harder than I planned. Having cooled off and replaced a lot of fluid and electrolytes lost through sweating my wife wanted to go for a walk, so I went with her. So I ended up covering nearly 13 miles today. I should sleep well tonight.

This evening I might do some more work on a bench I bought. It was advertised as "needing a lot of work" and the seller wasn't kidding. My plan is to strip it back to bare wood, probably restain it, and relacquer it. So far I've mostly stripped the two ends. I think it will be a nice looking piece when it's done - as soon as my wife saw the pictures she said "that looks like it could be awesome". So I'm hoping she isn't disappointed.

Took in a fast walk yesterday morning, then met a couple of friends for lunch at our favorite brewpub, and in the evening I spent some more time sanding the bench I bought, I've got most of the visible parts sanded now and getting into the more and more tricky corners. The hidden section at the back of it is scabby fiberboard so I'll most likely get rid of that and replace it with something a little better, even if that just means plywood.

I had thought to just lacquer it but the wood surface is a bit uneven so it's hard to get absolutely all the old stain removed. I could run the belt sander over it but that would strip away more wood than I want to lose, so I'll just plan to restain it once everything is done.

Looking at this thing I've been tempted to come up with a design and make similar things to sell. I'm just contemplating where to sell them and how much to charge, given I don't want to make a load of them in case they don't sell, and don't really want to be spending money on a show fee if I don't have enough of them to sell to make it worthwhile.

Today was an OK day at church, although I really didn't want to be there. Nice weather this afternoon for a walk, and now watching the rain.

Massively lazy morning and then my wife wanted to do yard work so I went for a walk. I took a water bottle and figured I'd decide when I got to the split whether to do the 5-mile or the 8-mile loop, but wanted to be prepared because I expected to do 8 miles. In the end I chose the 8-mile loop and then, when I got to the next split, decided to add the extra bit to bring the total to 10 miles.

Now I'm sitting in my recliner, having gone through about six pints of fluid since I got back.

It's another cool morning with windows open but I can't go for a walk because the dog won't go and I can't leave her at home. She's a rescue and has anxiety and abandonment issues. She even puts a paw on me in bed at night to make sure I'm still there.

Busy day today, helping some friends process corn. Husking, silking, cooking, chilling, cutting, keeping cob buckets empty, it was quite a process. But by the time we finished we had done something like 6000 ears of corn. Our payment is as much corn as we wanted to take. So now we have 24 quarts of corn in the freezer, which should last us until this time next year when we do it all again.
