Lazy day today. A good service at church, then my wife and I went for our walk around town and then sat on the porch watching the world go by for a couple of hours. I had planned to do a little more electrical work but concluded I need to decide exactly what I want rather than just adding another socket to a box, so I let it be and sat on the porch a while longer. I think what will ultimately happen is the sockets will end up added to my twin GFCI-protected circuit in the adjacent room. I've got a good idea how I'll make that happen and how I'll extend it from what's currently the last outlet on the circuit. I just need to decide how to power two adjacent rooms - whether to run a junction box and split the cabling or try and keep a single loop. The single loop seems cleaner - the boxes are a bit tight without adding a bunch of extra cables and wire nuts - but it also means second guessing what I'm going to end up doing in a room that isn't even on the radar for updating yet.
I now have two mains powered clocks sitting on my bench to make sure they keep time. One of them has been fine for 24 hours now and still keeps time. I only plugged the other one in this afternoon but so far, after a couple of hours it's still keeping good time.
I also found out the lamp I fixed is one my wife likes. I didn't think she liked it much so I fixed it with a view to selling it. Now I know she likes it I may find a nicer bulb holder to go on it.
