I've been driving ALL DAY LONG! I'm really tired and I just looked at my step counter and it's only at 1800. I won't be getting 10,000 today.

Stopped by the Amish lady's stand on the way home from picking up my sunglasses and she had a sign saying Leave the money in the slot. So I left the money in the slot, wrote down what I was buying in her log book and took my 4 little Whoopie Pies home with me. I think it was way too hot for her to be sitting out there. She's very trustworthy though. If it had been in my old town there wouldn't be a stand left for her to return to!

Today seems like a busy day, went to see a new client this morning and going to see another client in a few minutes.

I picked up a load of scrap wood for the change in my pocket. I saw a place was selling some but I didn't want anywhere near all of it, so I asked if I could take some. I had three boxes with me and said the chances are all I'd need was to fill the small one. They took a look over the wood I'd taken and put a really low price on it. The shop in question makes cabinets so it's all offcuts to them, so whatever they get is a bonus. I plan to upcycle the wood scraps and make picture frames for greetings cards out of it.

So far I've got two frames gluing and another three where I've cut the pieces but not the splines to hold them together. One of them is a slight second because I fed it to the router a little too eagerly and the router responded by gouging more out of the wood than I really wanted. That was frustrating. But I'm thinking I'm going to aim at a price point in the region of $10 for a small handmade frame, so the second can go out at a lower price.

First pic is a falls on the Brule River called the Devil's Kettle. The river splits with the water on the left falling into a Kettle that scientists cannot figure out where it goes.
The last pic is a shoreline on the big lake near the Baptism river.

Enjoyed two days on Lake Superior's North Shore, celebrating our 25th Anniversary.

According to scientists the exposed rock is some of the oldest on earth. There are many ancient lava flows that go into the lake. There are also nice pebble beaches with agates to be found.
The outside of an agate is unspectacular, but open it up and you see its beauty.
The best part about Lake Superior, is that it acts as a natural air conditioner. The water temperature is an average of 38 degrees Fahrenheit so when the rest of Minnesota is in the 90s, it will be in the 70s along the lake. We had perfect weather this past weekend.

Another article stated that the parks rejected the dye test thinking it would be harmful for the environment (Chicago dyes its river green every year and the fish are still alive!). But scientists still believe that the water just rejoins the river because of the force of the flow being the same.

In any case, it's a very interesting geological formation.

The articles I read stated that the swirling was so aggressive in nature that things thrown in were disintegrating.

That's really beautiful (all of your pics are...). There's a shop run by an Indigenous lady close to here that sells different crystals and stone obelisks fashioned from different rocks possibly millions of years old. Being an "old earth creationist" (which is a discussion for another thread ) it's just amazing to me. The stones have amazing natural patterns

Working to extract a Moen cartridge for a bathtub faucet/handle. So far vice grips and a hearty tug have not succeeded in removal. Just bought a Moen cartridge remover from Lowe's. Gonna go in for a new try with the specialized tool. If it does not work, I will humbly wait for the plumber on Monday morning...
