Lazy day today, ran some errands this morning, stopped at a little coffee shop we both like, and then got on with a bunch of admin stuff. Nothing exciting really. We were supposed to get some serious thunderstorms but watching the radar it seems they got close and then dissipated before they hit us. We got some rain and that was it.

Not the best morning.... I'd been tinkering with some web code last night and struggled to get my brain to shut down when I went to bed so slept in late. Then I found something had upset my digestion - I'll spare you all the details. Now I'm having a late morning coffee, then it will be time to mow the lawn, then I can put my new water-based separator through its first live test. I gave it a quick run yesterday and it seemed to cope well - I sucked the fine dust out of the collection bag from my orbital sander and didn't see any sign that any of it was blowing out of the exhaust vent. Now I have the sleeve for collection of wet mess, so hopefully that will keep water droplets away from the motor.

Putting water into the shop vac really makes it heavy, but I think this is probably the best way to do what I need.

went and jogged this morning using my garmin watch. I had lost the charger for it so wasn't using it for a long time and just got a new charger. it gives me time and distance and mile splits so I can see how amazingly slow I am

Good night all, having an iced Oreo cappuccino and a vegetarian pizza for lunch. Be idling at the shops before dining home and dozing off tonight.

Fun stuff, paying bills, checking contracts, that sort of thing. Stuff I'd really rather not have to deal with.

Today I got to check out my wet separator. For the most part it works, although it has limitations. A 16-gallon shop vac can only be filled so full of water before it is too heavy to carry up the stairs, so I had to keep the level down. And that led to the next problem - once you get a certain amount of dust into the water it foams and bubbles, allowing dust to blow right through it. So I think what I'm going to have to do is add water to it using a bucket, figure a way to lift it so I can empty it either into the bathtub or out of the window, and then plan to gather up most of the dust with a dustpan and use the separators to deal with what's left.

I'd really rather be able to just suck the whole lot up into the shop vac, but have visions of blowing up shop vacs at a rate that isn't financially sustainable. I think I'm going to need to figure a way to attach a short piece of hose to the outlet of the vac, with some kind of valve on the end. That will mean I can direct the outflow when it's time to empty it, which in turn means if I can lift it up onto some kind of stand I can just empty it out of the window if I need to.

I'm sorry but where are you from again?
It's almost 3 am here in the US (Texas), I'm up because I had to close the store and it's difficult for me to just get off of work and hit the hay.
:)

Had hoped to get a quick hike in yesterday morning but woke up to find my ankle wasn't working quite right. I could still walk but my ankle twinged with every step, so I figured walking on rough terrain wasn't a good idea. I did my usual walk around town with my wife instead. Then met some friends for a long lazy afternoon at a local brewpub we all like. Timing was pretty good there - shortly after our friends left I got a text from another friend asking what I was up to and, when I told him where I was, he said to give him a few minutes and he'd come out and join us. So I stayed a little longer, and had another beer :)

Just finished a nice 12 mile bike ride with my family. Perfect day. Light wind, mid-upper 70s and the Mississippi was humming with barge traffic as the barges try to make up for lost time this spring.

Nice mostly lazy afternoon. Went for a walk with my wife to get some sun and some steps. It felt like a bit of a slog today, but it's good to catch some rays and keep the blood pumping well. Then I spent a little time cleaning up in my workshop in the basement. I had a few piles of wood that needed to be combined, and a few scraps that I figured are small enough to throw in my burn pile.

I need to borrow my friend's truck before too long - I've got 20 bags of rubble to go out, a big pile of old laths with a few more to come when I pull a ceiling down, and a couple more piles of assorted wood scraps. Often I'd just take the wood out back and burn it but when it gets to a certain amount and I need to get to the landfill anyway it's easier to just throw the whole lot in the back and be rid of it all at once. If I've got the use of a truck I can also go to the hardware store and get some more boards, to cover the section of floor that's currently lifted. If I don't do that then there's a clear space between the house and the attic, which means the chance of bugs getting into the house. There aren't too many bugs in the attic since I sealed up a few gaps but every once in a while we get a couple of stink bugs or mud wasps up there, and I really don't want those getting into the house.
