Life started again. Holiday is over.

Doing battle with a clock that doesn't want to work. I think I've got it fixed, now comes the exciting part of putting it in my wall mount to see if it will run as it should. Previously it stopped every couple of hours, which means it wasn't much good as a clock.

At exactly 8 this morning I heard the clock strike 8, so hopefully that means it's finally working.

It was a tiny swimming pool in a small village nearby. Only 6 kids, they get tons of attention. Perfect. I called them. The other one gets swimming lessons in school, but it takes so long, I'll bring him there too.

Pulled a bunch more of my nasty lath-and-plaster ceiling down in the basement. It makes a horrendous mess, dust everywhere. I wear a dust mask and sweep all the fallen plaster into the corner every once in a while, then a day or two later go back down with a broom and a vacuum cleaner to clean up the dust that settled out of the air.

I've probably done about a third of it so far. Part of the problem is that I can only get rid of so much plaster at a time, and don't want mounds of it under my feet for any longer than necessary. When it's not so dry outside I'm going to put the wooden laths in a barrel and burn them.

Once all of the ceiling is down I get to play fun and games with the wiring, part of the reason I want the ceiling gone is because parts of it are falling down of their own accord, and part of the reason (a bigger part) is so I can get at the knob-and-tube wiring to replace it. Oh what fun lies ahead for me...
