“Our Lord and Master Jesus Christ, when He said poenitentiam agite, willed that the whole life of believers should be repentance.” ~ The first of Martin Luther's 95 Theses

There really is an emphasis on living our lives in repentance, always returning to our baptism, in Evangelical Lutheranism.
Guilt, provided by the Law, is just and necessary. The Law brings us to repentance, while the Gospel proclaims our forgiveness. Back to the topic of the thread, though, while there really is no place like home, I think New Zealand would be an excellent alternative. It's not too hot and from what I've read, there is a lot of unspoiled land out there.
