MoreCoffee and Psalms 91, do you feel that the things you do or do not do will bring about a change in how your life is whether it be healthy or prosperous or that you live a better life than other people? Does your fasting then cause God to do the healing you desire because of what you are doing in his name and you feel you are being obedient to him or do you think he would have healed the person anyway regardless of what you've done?

Maytered is a different topic, we are talking walking without murmuring and complaining and the benefits of such

I thought we were talking about fasting as the original topic. Then it changed to getting closer to God. Fasting won't make us closer to God. God makes us closer to Him. We're the ones who turn away, like the Israelites.

And fasting turns our thoughts and deeds back to God and thus we draw closer

We draw closer by God's word as Jesus said after his fast "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word than comes from the mouth of God" Matthew 4:4

The OP asked how does our fasting provide healing. It doesn't. Our fasting doesn't impress God or earn us brownie points. Fasting is about self-control and shows us our mortification.

I am quoting myself instead of retyping it because my questions have gone unanswered and it pertains to what I feel is an important part of this topic.

I believe that Gods will will be accomplished whether I am obedient or not but I do feel that for God to use me as a conduit I have to be obedient and yes as I draw closer to God it does change my behavior for the better

Thank you for answering what I've asked and now I ask this, do you think God will provide healing if you were disobedient?

Stephen was a servant of God who testified to the knowledge called Christ. He was killed because religious men hated the knowledge about the Beast that causes religious men to build false gods with their human hands.

Christian missionaries are fools who have no knowledge of Christ and are guided by Satan and the Beast into the wilderness to be slaughtered by other fools with no knowledge of Christ. There is no comparison between a foolish missionary with no knowledge of Christ and a servant who is forced to testify to the knowledge known as Christ and then killed by the religious heathens who send stupid fools called missionaries looking for land and minerals to covet to build their false gods with.

once there was a pastor told me, the spirit is getting strong when your body is getting weak. Through fasting your body, earthly flesh surrenders to spiritual things.

I have read in Matthew 26:41 that the spirit is willing but the body is weak and to watch out for temptation during that period so doesn't fasting which causes the body to be weak also open up a person to temptations?

When the Lord Jesus was fasting then the devil came to tempt him yet the Lord resisted and the devil left him. There's a lesson in the story about fasting and temptation.

Jesus, Peter, Stephen, Timothy, John, Paul and I are all servants who testified to the knowledge of God called Christ during this 1,000 year reign of Christ. There were many others not mentioned in the New Testament who also preached the true Gospel of God who are all killed because of the religious heathens who hate the words of the Lord.

Saints Peter Stephen, Timothy, John, and Paul all spoke what they'd learned from the Lord Jesus Christ and their message is not their own but the message of Jesus who received it from the Father who is God on high. Every one who carries the same message speaks for God and hears God speaking to them. The Lord Jesus said Whoever hears you, hears me. And whoever despises you, despises me. And whoever despises me, despises him who sent me." Jesus' message is the message I bring.

There is indeed a lesson about fasting and temptation concerning the Lord Jesus and his ability as God to resist the devil and I do believe if I had the same power as the Most High that I took could resist. My body is old and frail and I have suffered much and I highly doubt I could resist the bread the devil offered if he came to me in a most magnificent manner in the desert and I was in need. Do you think you could resist?

I do not know; God has not tested me under those conditions and I feel no certainty about myself yet I trust God to keep his promises - Temptation should not take hold of you, except what is human. For God is faithful, and he will not permit you to be tempted beyond your ability. Instead, he will effect his Providence, even during temptation, so that you may be able to bear it.

Thank you for that verse reminder but do you see where it says except what is human, I have looked at a different version of my bible and it says except what is common to mankind. Does that not mean that we still fall under temptation of those things common to mankind or is my mind too feeble to comprehend?
